I think he is going to be someone in this league. He runs hard and upfield.

Re: Law Firm (BJGE) ran pretty well yesterday too.

if he keeps it up, i believe we wont have sammy next year

instead of going out and signing the anual FA OLD rb, well have BJ...who does similar things

if im not mistaken, fred was signed for 2 years....

so next year it will be

Maroney,
FRed
BJ
Faulk

it will be both faulk's and fred's last years in the NFL....we would prob draft a rb in 2 years

Re: Law Firm (BJGE) ran pretty well yesterday too.

Hes a nice reserve no question.

Re: Law Firm (BJGE) ran pretty well yesterday too.

I was more happy with him executing his blocking assigments. He picked them all up. Vast improvement.

We want Faulk to last as long as possible. There is just no other player that does what he does. He is truly a 3rd down specialist.

Re: Law Firm (BJGE) ran pretty well yesterday too.

Played 2 more snaps than LoMo, had close to 10 YPC average, had some very nice blocks and was in on the flea-flicker. Say what you want, but they certainly have confidence in the kid and now he's getting his chances and maximizing them.

You're taking "they have confidence in him" from them playing him in a 59-0 blow out? Maroney took the snaps when they still meant something.

Did you happen to watch the game? BJGE was in pretty early on. I get that you can't give the guy any respect but at least get a bit real, k?

Not to mention they need to see what they have in BJGE should Morris be out for an extended period.

Re: Law Firm (BJGE) ran pretty well yesterday too.

I haven't exactly been high on the kid in the past, but he played awfully well yesterday. Granted, not until the blowout was well in hand, but I don't buy that it was all the weather and the Titans' D. The Titans were excellent against the run going into yesterday's game, and it apparently never occurred to the DC to go all-out against the pass (they never stopped single-covering Moss, which I guess explains how Brady got 5 TDs in the second quarter...).

Maroney and BJGE both ran extremely well behind an offensive line that was plowing the way for them, which just suggests to me that it was the offensive line that worked out the kinks and got things turned around. Vollmer and Mankins were crushing guys out there.

I wouldn't read anything into him getting more carries than Maroney, though- once the game was out of hand, Maroney came out simply because the Pats can't afford to lose him. When you only have 1 of your 3 feature RBs left, you're not going to waste him in blowout wins like that. BJGE was there to pick up the remaining carries, but he showed an awful lot in doing it well.

The kid has been nothing but impressive his entire stint here. I think he deserves more playing time. I'm gald to see that he seems to be making the 45 man roster each week now. If that guy who showed up wearing the #39 jersey yesterday keeps playing that way, then the Pats have something with the dredlock duo.

Hey, the way Faulk ran yesterday on that TD, he looked like has has atleast couple of more years under his belt if not more !

Big fan of the kid. I've never seen him really have a bad game. He's always trying his best.

This is true. BJGE recorded his first carry on the first drive in the second quarter, when it was 10-0. That was after workhorsing Maroney for the first 2 possessions, though, so it seems like that's where the next RB in the rotation would step in anyways, and with Morris out that was BJGE. After that they went back and forth until well into the third quarter, at least.

First it was--"he'll never, EVER make the 53 man squad. We don't need him on this team, there's no way he's making the team."

Then it was--"Well, even though he made the team, he'll ALWAYS be on the inactive list." Yet, come week 2 he's active on gameday, and plays on ST.

Then it was--"Well, he may be active from time to time, but he'll never see any gameday action." (like no one has watched NFL football before, and they don't realize that they'll be injuries in the first 6 games probably:rolleyes:)

Now it's--"Even though the first 3 things were wrong, all he did was play alright I guess. It was only some light mop-up duty."

BJGE will NEVER get any respect on this forum, he'll always be considered just a JAG who "we could easily replace if we had too." Some of us get the feeling Belichick likes him a lot, he's obviously that kind of overachiever who BB really gives credit to. He has value on special teams, blocks and chips well, has downhill running capability, and does run hard. I have no idea why someone who plays on "our team" is so disliked, etc. You actually hear that he's overrated, etc, but in the old days if we had a no-name guy come off the bench and do well, he'd be a fan favorite. Hell, even if he just didn't fumble in the old days he would've been respected for doing his job off the bench, etc. I just don't really get it, and I never have. But I'm also not trying to start a major discussion either. Just get used to it.

Agreed.

Faulk hasn't really taken the pounding that most players in the league have over the course of their careers. Wouldn't be surprised to see him play until he was 35 or 36. He's just so reliable and picks up blocks so well that even when he slows down with age, he can still do the things a third down back needs to do.

Re: Law Firm (BJGE) ran pretty well yesterday too.

Yep, that's the progression. You nailed it.

All I know is me and a buddy were in the living room screaming "Benny!!" every time he got the ball. He is no JAG and someday even the most cynical people here is going to have to give him some due.

I was surprised when he made the 53, but once he did it wasn't a huge leap that he was gameday active as a STer. Nobody really said that he wouldn't be active as a STer, IIRC- just that he wouldn't be seeing any carries at RB unless there were a lot of injuries.

That turned out to be correct. It wasn't until 2 of our top 3 RBs went down that BJGE saw any carries. That's not a knock on him- there are 3 talented, proven RBs ahead of him on the roster (plus Faulk, but I tend to think of him as being in a separate position outside of the standard RB rotation).

That's what he is, and that's good. RB depth is a great commodity to have. Most of us that were 'not giving him any credit', though, were largely reacting to widespread posts about how he was apparently going to supplant Maroney and Morris on the depth chart, which made no sense on any level. Clearly Belichick liked him more than I thought, since I didn't have him making the 53, but getting carries as a backup RB when 2 of the top 3 RBs are injured isn't exactly the slam-dunk that you seem to think it is. He's the #5 RB, same as he was when the season opened.

Nothing but impressive? He was good yesterday, but he had 3.7 ypc last year against terrible rush defenses.

If Green Ellis can improve on ST, I think he will take Morris's roster spot.

It is all about increasing his versatility and thus his value to the team.
