ESPN Rumors - Pats could trade Galloway to the Ravens

You and I seem to be watching a different Aiken playing receiver.

Yeah, I'd call his hands questionable, but I think doubtful would be more accurate.

No kidding. Aiken is a 5th WR. Not sure where folks are seeing the production worthy of 3rd WR cosideration.

I'll trade him straight up for Ed Reed.

PJ, but Reed has had injury issues, particularly late in the year, the last few years. I'd probably want the Ravens to throw in a pick too.;)

We're not, but Edelman seems to be putting up 3rd WR numbers, and Aiken seems to be a fine #4. Could be improved, and certainly it would be nice to have another deep threat as an option, but if Galloway isn't "getting" it he's not the answer at #3 or #4.

My bad. Seemed that triplechamp insinuated that w/ Galloway MIA he mentions Aiken as playing well enough to forget him. I assumed he meant as a #3...

If only Galloway could offer some type of threat...Too bad.

You can't keep non-productive guys on your team because you are afraid if you cut or trade them, they will help someone else. You would end up with a squad of non-performers.

It isn't what you can get vs what you give back. It is do you want the guy on your team or not. That is the questoin that counts. If you want him on the team, keep him. If you don't want him, you cut or trade him, and it is hard to say that cutting is better than trading unless you are sending a message to the team. Usually getting a fifth, sixth or seventh rounder is better than not getting one.

People think late round picks are worthless when we trade for them (WE gave up Play X for a lousy end-of-the-draft pick?) yet go beserk when we trade one away (we gave up a draft pick for that waste Player Y?)

Personally, I hope Galloway works out. I like him. But if it is keeping him inactive for the next 10 games and the playoffs vs taking a flyer on someone else, then I'd go with the flyer.

If we didn't have to carry the salary and we could simply cut him then I'd agree with you.

Anytime I'd trading to anybody I'd consider a rival I'd weigh up when they gain compared to what I loose.

If it was a trade with the Bucs for example I'd have no issues at all, within the AFC to a team who could cause us enough pain should we have face them later anyway then I'd be thinking about it

Maybee we could trade Galloway for Kelly Washington, since he is doing nice things for Baltimore, he should be able to pick up the system here..

I thought the line of thinking went that we didn't want to send him to a contender? Either way, this is just a rumor as of right now. Personally, I think he gets reactivated sometime soon. I hope he works out too. He would make this offense almost impossible to defend against. The guy is still a burner, the only thing that remains to be seen is if he and his hands can get on the same page with Brady (who was firing on all cylinders yesterday).

Now we all would love that, won't we ;)

Something is WRONG with the 3rd WR 'burner' paradigm. Were that viable there's no reason on Earth why Gals couldn't just be sent deep to outrun a CB and force help from a safety thus helping Moss. Don't need to be a playbook genius to go deep. Something truly majorly disfunctional in Galloway's performance or behaviour has to be at issue.

The Pats 4-2 and with the way we played yesterday I think that our wide out corps is set. Galloway had a shot and Aiken has played well it's time to move on.

Disagree on all points. Galloway has not really had a shot yet IMO--just 3 games with an out-of-sync Brady barely looking his way. Aiken has been putrid as a WR although he looked ok yesterday.

As another poster said, the potential benefit of keeping him and having him do what he is capable of far outweigh those of trading him. I doubt we'd get much for him, and definitely wouldn't want to trade him to a conference rival. Have you seen how much of a stud Kelly Washington has been since we let him go?

We'd be lucky to get an 8th round draft pick for him

True but the fact is that your frachise QB is trying to get comfortable and regain confidence in his game and Galloway is not helping him get to that point. May be unfair but it is what it is.

It's a good trade. If we don't use him, get some value for him in the return. Don't let him walk away for FREE.

Seriously. It's stupid to trade the guy because we're not going to get ****. I don't care about the .000001% chance we have of finding another 7th round gem, I'd rather keep an established vet who can still help this team. The one thing about Galloway's time here is he has never been on the field with an on point Brady. He has been sitting around for awhile and Tom has gotten signifigantly better. I think they deserve another game or two together before we throw away a very useful deep threat.

Say what you want about Galloway, but the potential he brings to this offense (as we witnessed yesterday imagine Brady throwing to Galloway instead of Aiken) is impossible to ignore. At worse, we have a useless player on our roster. Better that than let competition possibly utilize him better against us.

Exactly. Fans here are so impatient, goodness.

I agree about Aiken except for you said he played good yesterday. IMO, the titans at a certain point became SO defeated even bums like Aiken were getting open. Just watching him with the ball in his hand, the way he runs the routes, the guy is just not going to an effective NFL WR. It's not going to happen, we really need to try to fix whatever issues Galloway is having. We're not always going to be facing that terrible titans secondary.

won't we free up cap room?

And now he's been inactive for 3 games so any hope of developing game-time rapport, timing, and being on the same page is gone.

And as for "keeping him" I am fairly sure that at this point, they release him only after trading deadline expires so that he must be cleared off waivers in order of preference. This therefore prevents him from going to a contender.

Evidently Michael Lombardi is now reporting this as a real possibility now, too.
