Great Win, but Let's Not Blow it Out of Proportion

its a shame that the london game is next week! The pats will go from ne extreme to another. Have to deal with the media circus that is London and if the pitch moves about like it did last year it could be a tough game!
If the pitch does start cutting up and moving about who will it suit better the pats or the buccs?

I don't think we have to call the field the "pitch", just because the game is being played in Blighty, do we?

Yeah, I mean every team has beaten the Titans by 59 points this year, no need to go crazy about.

Actually, I think the Steelers beat them by 60.

It's also another loss for TEN (0-6) and that pick we get from them is looking like a top 40 overall pick.

Thats what I was thinking. Now if the Jags can just nose dive from here on out we'll be sitting pretty (again). Lets just hope that news of a rookie salary schedule for the 2011 draft is out by then so 2010 will be deeper than usual.

The Jags are being jags too. Our 2010 draft picks are looking sexy.

We should change the tag line on this board from The Best Fans on Earth to Overemphasize the Bad and Make Excuses for the Good

I'll take it. I will always get excited about a big win like this, even over a ****ty team like the Titans. That was the worst performance by a secondary I've ever seen in my life. Still good to see Brady connecting with his receivers with such ease, and good to see him stepping up in the pocket to make throws.

On the other side, the defense really stepped up when it would have been easy to lose focus in such a blowout.

Do I think this win makes the Pats Superbowl favorites? Of course not. But all the things everyone here has been complaining about (Brady's inaccuracy, poor pass protection, soft defense, poor running game) went away, at least for a week.

Hopefully some confidence from this blowout goes with them across the pond.

What color kit will the Yanks be wearing on the pitch you buggering sod

If you had your way, everyone would be required to take a shot of kool aid and blow sunshine up each other's arses... no matter what.

It was a great win. People are going overboard saying Brady is 'back', and expecting the 07 offense to start rolling again. The Brady of old is much closer to his career avg, than one aberration of a season.

Speaking of events in yesterday's game that made it less than a 100% perfect day... has anyone heard any rumors as to the severity of Sammy Morris's knee injury? If he goes on IR the Pats are suddenly looking very thin in the backfield.

Colour, actually :)

And you're more likely to find people throwing the word c*nt or w*nker about than sod.

I agree with everything you said. BUT...

I disagree that Maroney's long run was a huge hole. The endzone camera had the best look at it. That run was a direct result of Maroney being patient with his blocking and he squeezed through there at the right time. That was a great patient run by Maroney.

It was a result of Vollmer clearing the way, he shifted to the middle on that dive up play to lead block and left a wake the size of Rhode Island.

The "Brady of old" is the Brady that evolved into his 2007 performance. He looked just like that yesterday, not because of the scoreboard, but because of how he played.
The Brady before 2007 didnt have Moss and Welker. It isn't an aberration.
He is throwing for 287 yards a game, has a 99 rating and has thrown 2 ints in 241 passes, one of which was a screen, and the other chucked up as a jump ball for Moss.
Give him credit for being the best, and stop saying if Manning couldnt repeat his best season Brady cant.
And btw, it has absolutely nothing to do with stats.

Regardless its nice to see your reaction to the biggest win in 30 years in the NFL is to say it was smoke and mirrors, the opponent sucks and please dont give our players any credit.

Vollmer created a ginormous hole that Maroney ran through. Anybody fast would have scored on that play.

Nobody is disputing that it was a great win, an epic beat down, and very enjoyable to watch.

However, people are taking this blowout against a horrible opponent, to somehow extrapolate that Brady is now back to 2007 form, that Maroney is good, etc etc. This game didn't really show that much, I'm not too sure we can feel any more confident or uncertain about our chances against a contender.

Point well taken Mav. However, I think you make great points had the Patriots won 31 to 14. A 59 to 0 win, over ANY NFL team is highly impressive, and to me, means something.

Besides, the Patriots played without they starting RB (F. Taylor), his backup (for most of the game) (S. Morris), their starting LT (M. Light), and a slew of other starters (including Brady) played barely over half the game. Yet, they still won 59 to 0. I get your point, but I think this is the beginning of some great things.

-Tennessee was missing its two starting corners and playing college-level rookies there. The team was 0-5 coming in. Their secondary was worse than our 2005 secondary, when any bum QB could come in and throw 400 yards on us.

Number of games 2005 Pats allowed 400 passing yards = 0

Like you said, it was a great win. There is no way Collins is as bad as he looked yesterday and he's experienced enough to have played in plenty of inclement weather situations. For the rest of the week I will view this as a great win and not put any buts next to it. If the Pats fail to consistently move in a forward direction after this game, I'll put a but next to it. Right now I'm going to revel in the elation of this slaughter. It was terrific!

Yea but they did allow 400+ yds of offense 7 times. They came around at the end of the year but as you well remember, their D for the 1st 11 weeks was tough to take...

The statement was 'any bum could come in and throw for 400 yards' vs the 2005 Pats.
Just pointing out how far off that statement was.
