I tell you what, I am absolutely loving seeing Brandon McGowan and Brandon Meriweather out there wreaking havoc on the field. It's fantastic to see them holding the middle of the field and absolutely crunching any receiver or tailback coming their way.

There could be something special developing between these two.... and I like it.

There's nothing safe.. about taking on the Brandons :D

Yeah those two are flying around making big hit after big hit, no way Sanders takes playing time away from McGowan not at the level he is playing right now.

I must admit. Back in PS, i just didnt think McGowan would make the team. Im lovin this guy more each week. It just goes to show, that EVEN I, can be wrong once in awhile :D

McGowan is a very nice surprise.. how long is he signed for???

McGowan's speed is certainly a nice addition in the secondary. Chung's development is also coming along well, I like how BB has been able to rest Sanders after his shoulder injury, it's clear the depth at Safety is the best it's been under BB.

McGowan is signed through 2010.

I had him making the team, but I figured he'd be a STer and emergency depth. At best, a situational/rotational guy- and even then I was probably being overly optimistic because he was a Maine alum. No way anyone anticipated him having this kind of impact.

Been really impressed with both so far this season, esp McGowan who I expected nothing from, was actually more excited about Chung as a prospect.

Still have a slight concern at Meriweather's excitement in the tackle some times, leads to him missing. Still, his play esp the cross field knockdown in the Ravens game has been great.

Agree with all of the above...I notice on fumble recoveries McGowan seems to be there on almost every one..nice!

Imagine how many more INTs the secondary catches if Brady gets back to normal and the patriots play with a big lead.

Then there's this assessment from our old pal Mr. Bogus:

WORST TACKLING: Patriots safety Brandon Meriweather has just about retired the trophy after missing several more yesterday so badly a 59-point lead couldn’t even hide them.

WORST-CONCEALED JOURNALISTIC BIAS: Wrong Borges. First, last and always.

Yes, BM missed a tackle against Chris Johnson. He wouldn't be the only one to do that in those conditions.

All he did was rattle would-be receiver's with ball-jarring hits.

Forgous is a bitter elf.

SO next year, do we carry Chung, Sanders and the BMs?

The patriots usually carry 5-6 safeties. All the backups are expected to be top special teamers. All four will be carried. Why would we weaken the safety position after we have solidified it for the first time in many years?

All depends on how Chung improves. If he knows the D, I don't see how they can hang onto Sanders and justify his salary/cap #

I don't know why you wouldnt, Sanders is signed to a reasonable contract and would provide really solid depth, Chung looks to be developing well and plays great on special teams, and the BM's... they have just been playing out of their mind this season - at this point, I don't know which other team's starting safety TANDEM (note i said tandem, there are definitely better individual safeties out there right now) that i'd rather have - the saints, broncos, steelers, and jets have pretty good ones are pretty solid too but I just love our safety play this year

Did Sanders play against the Titans? Never saw him.

If Chung turns into what he is expected to turn into, how can we carry all of them and give them enough playing time? We would have to sacrifice one of them (hopefully via trade) to improve elsewhere. You just can't carry four good/very good safeties.

Love the Brandons/BMs. The two plays that stood out in particular were Meriweather forcing the fumble and the play where McGowan knocked the Titan's running back out of the game. That was amazing, there was this blur on the screen in real time, and the next thing you saw was the guy limping towards the sideline and you just knew he was done. I only saw it was McGowan on the replay (suspected it though). The way they were laying the wood had a lot to do with all the dropped passes in my opinion.

My concern is similar to that of PatJew, that the way McGowan is throwing himself around he can't help but get injured because he plays completely without regard for his own safety.
