After watching Vollmer today....I wonder if sometime in the near future, that BB will move Light over to right tackle....putting Vollmer on the left side.

It's not so much a knock on Light as one on Kascur. I think we would be better up front with that set. What do you guys think?

Vollmer will definetly be starting at LT next year if he can keep this level of play up.

good thing we're not making quick judgments based on two games

Vollmer played well today, lets see how he does against the Jason Taylors, Aaron Schobels and the rest of the speed rushers who know us well...

I do like the depth...

How do you figure it to be just two games? Isn't it the consenses that Nick K. is the weak link on the offensive line?

I know it's only a couple games for Vollmer.....but, the guy was a Monster today going against Vanden

Kaczur just got a contract extension, as did LeVoir. I think Kaczur's been pretty solid so far this season.

With Light's contract up after next season, and a pretty big cap hit for that final season, Light's time may be winding down in New England.

Vollmer was matched up against Kyle Vanden Bosch or Hayes today and pretty much shut him down. Good first start for the rookie.

It is too early to annoint Vollmer the starting LT just yet. He looks good so far, but I think that Light still gets his starting job back for the near term.

Vollmer shows a lot today- props to him for that. Vanden Bosch went out early though, and I didn't check to see if he returned. If Vollmer can keep playing at even close to this level, though, then damn, give him the job.

Again.....It's not giving the job to anyone.

I am just thinking on what would give us the best offensive line. If Vollmer can handle it...and Light can play on the right side. Why not? I think we would definately run the ball better. Vollmer was pushing guys all over the field today. The guy is a dozer.

No matter how much Kaczur gets ripped on this board, the Patriots didn't give him an extension because he was the only RT available.

I wouldn't be surprised if they end up sliding Kaczur over to RG at some point, especially given their predilection for mammoth tackles in recent years.

If Vollmer continues to play this well, I could understand the argument. Not sure I trust the rookie with TB's blindside after just one game though. Light's injury should give Vollmer a few more chances to show his stuff though, and I'd like to see how he does against an elite pass rusher.

Replace Neal or Mankins? No way

I doubt it ... Kaczur is playing well ... no need to upset the line.
Also ... with film on Vollmer teams will be better preparred for him so no sense getting carried away. Vollmer has upside as well - I think he counters whatever they come up with.

IMO he can play well at the right side for more years . Sometime he struggles with the athletic ends like in Bills Week 1 game or Freeney. Volmer is A BEAST. Our best pick since soooo long .

Vollmer is my boy.

he was my favorite pick w/ high potential....... I stated my love of him in a much earlier thread. :D

I suppose you could try to 'prepare' for Vollmer as much as you want. But having to deal with his monstrous size, long arms, and athleticism up close and personal are another matter! Looks like Dante found a gem for us. And it's about time! This makes up for missing out on McNeil a few drafts back.

Take note of SeaBass' blocks on the run plays. He destroyed his opponents.
