At 9 PM they have the "Greatest 4th Quarters". One of the featured games is Pats at Titans 2003. Is this the game when Vinny scored a TD and Bullock freaked out?

Re: Nfln

No, that was 3 years later in the regular season. This is the playoff game where it was 2 degrees.

No, it's probably the 2003 regular season game.

Actually this is the one that Law intercepted a pass with 2 minutes remaining to seal the win. Mike Cloud's greatest game. This was the first win of the 21 game winning streak.

Re: Nfln

One of the unsung heroes of 2003 was Bethel Johnson. He had some very timely kickoff returns in a handful of games that year, including that Titans game. Right after Tennessee took the late lead, Bethel returned the ensuing kickoff to the Titans' 15yd line. A play or two later the Pats regained the lead and then sealed the win with Law's pick on Tennessee's next possession. Bethel's return was a huge play to take back momentum right after Tennessee appeared to own it all.

He did the same vs. Indy (the famous kickoff return TD as the half expired) and in Denver (huge return just before halftime that gave the Pats an unexpected FG heading into intermission).

Regards,
Chris

Re: Nfln

Law running that pick back and limping into the end zone is one of my favorite memories of '03.

And Chris is absolutely right about Bethel Johnson. Without him we probably don't have homefield against the Colts in the playoffs. Also his amazing catch and reversal of the field run for a 3rd down conversion and TD catch in the divisional round. He may have turned out a bust after that, but what he gave us in '03 was worth the draft pick.

Re: Nfln

Nice. Thanks for the remind, bud.

Re: Nfln

For all of us hankering for the 2003 Pats team with the best D ever... they gave up alot of points and yards and long drives in that game. They made a big stop when it counted.

Listen here - the thing that makes those legendary defenses so great is forgetting all the crappy bits. Quit yer nonsense, lad. Anymore of that and we're going to re-attach your foreskin and make you eat pork rinds! ;)

Just as long as you don't re-attach the pork rinds and make me eat foreskin!

Re: Nfln

Haha, that was funny!

It is so sad watching the defense of five to seven years ago, packed to the rafters with big play artists to this current defense. Name one playmaker on our current defense? Maybe Merriweather on a good day? It is very sad indeed.

Did you see how many big offensive plays the Pats' D allowed in that game? And how many points they allowed? More than in any gamr that the 2009 D has allowed. How did that 2003 team start out?
