1 2010 2nd rounder
and maroney :) cmon its a win win

Re: Florio says Steven Jackson would look good in silver and blue

I would do any deal involving Maroney and any 2nd for Barber or Jackson in a heartbeat.

I would probably die if it did happen

Re: Florio says Steven Jackson would look good in silver and blue

Can he rush the passer?

Re: Florio says Steven Jackson would look good in silver and blue

Jackson is the 2nd best back in the NFL after Peterson, in my opinion. It's pretty amazing what he does considering just how awful the situation he is in is. Constantly facing 8 and 9 man fronts due to awful QB play and his line isn't very good either yet he still produces.

I do think a deal between the Patriots and Rams makes sense since the Rams will have run Jackson into the ground by the time they are contending and he'll be worthless by then. Meanwhile, the Patriots have 4 picks in the 1st 2 rounds next year and 3 picks in the 1st 2nd rounds in 2011.

That said, I don't see it happening.

No, but he wont run to the line of srimmage and take a knee.

Also would anyone be against a trade for Larry Johnson? An ultimate buy low type option? The guys offensive line is absolutley terrible and fans are trying to run him out of town

Re: Florio says Steven Jackson would look good in silver and blue

I would be so happy if we shipped Maroney anywhere. Love the Broncos game where you see him pouting on the bench. He was supposed to be "motivated" that game and didn't show the slightest improvement. Love to get Jackson here.

Everyone standing up cheering for the team and Maroney taking a seat.

Nomar-esque

Johnson is still a good RB, and anyone who says otherwise is crazy, so yeah- I'd definitely take him. Wonder what it'd take to get that done- a 4th rounder?

Nothing against Jackson, I think he's a good player, but a RB is hardly what we need. Maroney's not as bad as some people make it sound. There's hardly any holes for him to run through and we're not exactly committing to the run.

However, if we do trade for Jackson, he'll be a good addition because he is a good player. Same thing with Larry Johnson.

Agreed, but we could use another RB to replace Taylor. IMO the guy would compliment Maroney, not replace him. And yeah, when he proceeded to come in and not do nearly as well as people were expecting, maybe then we'd figure out that it's just not that easy to run behind this line.

True but you have 3 RBs on the wrong side of 30 and a fmr 1st round pick who is not producing (insert reason here).

Throw SJ in this offense and worst case he'll be just as productive as Sammy Morris.

Look at the contract again...(assume it would not be renegotiated)...

8/21/2008: Signed a six-year, $44.805 million contract. The deal contains $20.5 million guaranteed, including an $11.395 million signing bonus. OK- now its a 5yr- 33.4m deal w/ $9.1 remaining thats guaranteed

Another $4.495 million is available through incentives. He must average 1,200 yards rushing and 400 yards receiving over the first four years to void the final two seasons on his contract. 2009: $5.5 million, 2010: $6.105 million, 2011: $7.2 million, 2012-2013: $7 million (Voidable Years), 2014: Free Agent. Cap charge: $7.4 million (2009). This can all be reworked.

This would be a move for 2010 as much as 2009.

This is a no brainer pats need a feature back do whatever we can to get him then we don't have to worry about picking a 1st or 2nd round rb player becuz we clearly can't do that.

Not as bad? Come on the guy is done here. Everyones all but admit to it, its sad that its come down to that but its true.

If you can get a deal for either you do it and you do it yesterday.

Re: Florio says Steven Jackson would look good in silver and blue

I remember the year Steven Jackson was drafted... i could have sworn about 70% of the posters here wanted to draft him.

Yeah,Many of us wanted Steven Jackson but we ended up getting a player more like Michael Jackson - Maroney loves to do the moonwalk behind the LOS and his impersonation of Michael's famous dance routine is pretty good,In fact they named the Michael Jackson song 'I'm Bad' after Maroney

God, I would love this trade. I'd send Maroney and a 2nd in a heartbeat. Jackson would be deadly in this offense.

Yes not as bad. Maroney carried us in late 07 and into the playoffs. We committed to the run and he produced. He broke his shoulder last year, not his fault. And when he's had holes this year, he's produced. Granted, he does dance when there's no hole, but what can you do? The main difference between Maroney and our other backs is that when there's no hole, Morris, Taylor, Faulk, will run straight into the pile, while Maroney dances and tries to go outside and lose a yard or two. It's not a good play and he needs to realize that he can't outrun people in this league, but I don't believe for one minute that he's done here.

Re: Florio says Steven Jackson would look good in silver and blue

I agree with Florio.
