It seems that it is time for Ohrnberger's leg injury. He's had enough time on this year's roster.

Re: Ohrnberger's Leg Injury

I looked at the title and THOUGHT it was a real injury...which was incredibly misleading...as all that is is just a possible wanting for that so he can be IRed...pretty poor..

And it is WAAAAAAAY past time for Simmons to announce his retirement.

Re: Ohrnberger's Leg Injury

Do you think they'd do that?

BB calls him into his office and tells him that he'll be put on IR with a leg injury.

"What leg injury?"

BB pulls out a baseball bat and smashes him in the leg.

"That leg injury!"

They might as well cut him and see if he makes it to the PS....he probably does.

Re: Ohrnberger's Leg Injury

If Ohrnberger appears on the injury report with a "leg injury", how many posters would believe that it was real, and not just a precursor to his being red-shirted on IR?

:)

Yes, that is another alternative.

Yes, that is another alternative.

Pulling a scene out of the movie, "Misery" w/ BB playing the role of Annie Wilkes.

Doesn't that leave us woefully thin on the interior of the O Line?

We usually carry 5 interior linemen and 4 tackles. We usually have at least one interior lineman on the Practice Squad.

CURRENTLY (the normal 9 on the 53-man squad plus one on the Practice Squad)
starters inside: Mankins, Koppen, Neal
backups inside: Connolly, Simmons and Ohrnberger
tackles: Light, Kaczur and Vollmer
practice squad: Wendell

ASSESSMENT
A) We have one more interior lineman than usual and one fewer tackle.
B) Losing Ohrnberger OR Simmons would not leave us short. We are fine with both being inactive at the same time. We usually have only one inactive interior lineman. Besides, we have Wendell on the Practice Squad. Wendell has been active before, when needed.
C) When LeVoir comes back, I expect us to waive a lineman or put one on IR. Obviously, we have carried ten OL's at times in the past, so it is not NECESSARY to reduce to nine.

Do you really feel comfortable with the thought of either Simmons or Connally on the field?

A) I would have liked us to draft a better, more-ready OG/C prospect than Ohrnberger. Levitre and Unger certainly come to mind. However, it is what it is. Ohrnberger was ourdraftee and he is not ready for prime time.

B) I am comfortable with Connolly as our backup center. Obviously Dante is also or we would have kept Hochstein. Connolly and Wendell competed for the job of game day backup at center and guard. Connolly won the competition and Wendell got the Practice Squad spot. I liked Wendell better, but I certainly accept dante's choice.

C) Simmons is a real wildcard. Healthy and 100% back from his injuries, he could very well be a solid starter at either guard position. At this point, it isn't clear why he isn't active. Perhaps, he isn't acceptable as a backup center, even though he has been used in that role earlier in his career.

D) I could see us keeping both Simmons and Ohrnberger as 2010 prospects, and not using either for the rest of the season. Wendell could certainly be activated in case of injury.

Do you really feel comfortable with the thought of either Simmons or Connally on the field?
