Desperate? Hungry? Is that seriously the Titans' game plan?

The Pats will smoke the Titans. They will smoke them by 20 points at least. I don't care how "desperate" or "hungry" the Titans are.

The Rams, Bucs, and Chiefs are 0–5. I bet they're desperate, too. But fans of the teams who go up against the Rams, Bucs, and Chiefs each week don't go into respiratory shock.

The Pats are the best non-undefeated (I think that's right) team in the league. Stop worrying about the damn Titans because we lost to (a) a team that plays them at least one very tough game every year and (b) the best defense in the league. Yes, New England will be better than Denver by the end of November. No, the Titans will not run the table for a Super Bowl appearance just because they're desperate. And no, desperation should not terrify opposing fans, especially when those fans eat, drink, and sh*t in New England.

They are not good enough to beat the Patriots unless the Patriots blow three times as many opportunities they did in Denver. A decent team does not lose to both the Texans and the Jaguars. It's a moot point anyway, because a decent team is not good enough to beat New England. The Falcons and Ravens are both undeniably better than "decent." They didn't get it done. The Titans won't either.

Some people (not all, not most, but some) need to look up the word "desperation." (Pro tip: It is not synonymous with will beat the New England Patriots.) I am seriously wondering at those people's basic understanding of the English language.

Good thread. I think we'll bulldoze the Titans and Brady will find some rhythm against their depleted defense. The only thing that worries me is the Titans' tendency to play dirty... especially watching the knee hit Vanden-Bosch put on Manning last week. But, other than that, I think the Pats can beat them pretty handily.

I think their gameplan will be much like the Pittsburgh and NY Jets games, where they were winning both, but lost close games. Yes, their secondary is depleted, but they still have quite a capable running game. Give them a turnover or bad call, and anyone can beat anyone. If it were KC or Cleveland, maybe Oakland, etc--then I'd say yeah, no problem. But in reality, they were in 4 out of 5 games, losing very close games to PIT, NYJ, and HOU. The JAX game was 20-13 and turned on what the league admitted was a blown replay call by the ref who called the MNF game last night. The only game they really got blasted in was Sunday night v. Indy--and Indy looks great.

Yes, they're 0-5, but in the NFL you can throw records out the window. Sometimes, when teams don't have much to play for, they make games against teams like us their 'superbowl.' We've seen it before plenty of times. We were supposed to destroy SF and Seattle last yr, and they pretty much sucked. In 06 (IIRC) we were supposed to smoke Detroit at home, but the game was very close.

I don't think we'll lose this game, but it won't have anything to do with their 0-5 record. I think our coach usually has the team ready coming off of a loss, that's my reasoning. In all 5 games this yr, we've had close calls--even the ATL game was only 16-10 in the 3rd quarter, and that's our most dominant game.

I learned not to take any team lightly, and I believe our coach has the same respect for the opponent. Bottom line though, I think we get it done by 14-17 points, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least if the game were closer.

I've never bought the whole 'desperate and hungry' thing- suggest that the Titans are 0-5 because they didn't feel like winning a game, which just doesn't make any sense. Why wouldn't they have been desperate at 0-4 or 0-3? Those losses were essential postseason death sentences too.

That said, I wouldn't assume that we're going to blow them out. They can't be much worse than Buffalo.

I agree. This team had the best regular season record in the NFL last year. While losing Haynesworth hurts, he isn't that big a factor (aks the Deadskins presently battling with a streak of winless teams). The Titans lost close games to the Steelers and the Jerks and got mopped by Indy - all good teams. It is a team that has last year still in memory and is probably looking for that positive experience to climb out of its funk. It is a team with little to lose (at 0-5 it has a slight chance at playoffs if it runs off 10 or 11 straight) and everything to gain by beating the Pats, so I would consider it dangerous.

You're right. Our defensive gameplan of sitting back and inviting the QB to throw will finally work if Collins is benched for Young. We'd just need to spy Young with our fastest LB (Guyton, by far) and watch him throw picks all game long.
