Not convinced that Brady and the O calls should not take half of the blame.. the pats had the ball 11 times, 4 of those times they were 3 and out... time of possession was 36.5 to 28.5 in favor of the Broncos... the Bronco's had 14 more plays.. it goes on and on.. we are used to the O moving the chains and eating up the time of possession, did not happen yesterday.

Because that's all the Broncos were throwing yesterday (other than the screens, where pressure doesn't help and the quick clear out play to Scheffler). Please help me out here. The lack of pressure is a red herring. There's no way you can get pressure on a QB throwing those types of patterns. This is what the Patriots used to do to the Steelers to nullify the pass rush - spread out the defense and throw short passes.

I disagree w/ Reiss on this one. We were getting some pressure on Orton but they adjusted to it and started calling those quick-outs. They ate us alive with the short passing game. Lack of pass rush? Well I guess you could always use more pass rush but that wasn't the main reason we lost that game. We were out-coached, particularly in the play calling.

Here's my guess: you have to play the CBs closer to the LOS. When you do that you are vulnerable to a double move so you bring the safeties up or use LBs more in coverage (or both). I don't think we have enough LBs w/ good coverage skills so I think Pees/BB are willing to take the short yardage stuff rather than risk giving up big plays.
i respect all the opinions about playing the CB's playing closer to the LOS. but does anyone think that it has slipped from BB's mind ? is he really that rigid ? there must be a reason he doesnt do it anymore.
Correction: The Broncos offense only scored 17 points in regulation after shooting themselves in the foot a few times. Oh, and in overtime (you know... when it mattered most?), yards did in fact translate into points as Kyle Orton drove the team 80 yards for a game winning FG. Good try though.

You love going nuts after losses huh. Again. Tom Brady hits a wide open Moss and Welker and we're talking about yet again how the defense saved the O's ass. Not doing jack **** for 3 freaking quarters is a goddamn joke. The offense, Brady inparticular, needs to pull its head out of its ass.

First, I think there will be plenty of people who can tell you that I'm one of the most level headed people on this forum after a loss. You want proof?
Second, I would not be one of those people. Anybody who isn't blind could see that Denver shot itself in the foot plenty of times. 17 points or not, two 90 yard drives and an 80 yard drive to end the game are piss poor and a better offense would definitely capitalize on all the opportunities we afforded the Broncos.
Third, I've never said that the offense played great. I've said time and time again that the offense left 7-14 points out on the field. However, the biggest catalyst for the loss is definitely the defense.
I have been begging BB to draft a pass rush demon for the past three years. We deserately need someone to come in on third and long and change the way opposing offenses pass block.
We don't have that type pass rusher on our team.
What I think Reiss is trying to say is that without a decent pass rush, the secondary has to play a soft zone defense, which is vulnerable underneath.
