It Is What It Is Tom Brady on D&C, 10/12

What did you see on that [Wes Welker] play and what went wrong?

Wes was thinking one thing and I’m thinking another. That’s just the way it is. Wes and I need to be on the same page. I see what he was looking at, and he understands what I was looking at. That comes up over the course of a game. We should have hit the play. There’s no doubt about it. That was a great chance for us to make a critical third-down conversion there in the fourth quarter, and that’s why we lost, because we didn’t make that play — and other critical third-down conversions.

Does it get easier or more difficult when you see a guy breaking free for the end zone?

It gets easier. It’s certainly easier. There is no excuse for missing Randy. I should make that 100 percent of the time and I didn’t. Believe me, I wish I could do it all over again, but I can’t. Hopefully, I’ll do it better the next time. You’d love to have guys wide open all the time down the field. You’re very fortunate to have those things, and they’re very fortunate when you don’t make the play. That’s something that we have to improve on, and I have to improve on when we do have those guys open down the field. I have to hit them.

Hearing him was a little comforting. He basically said: we need to execute better. I think he's pretty much right. Its not that simple, but if he does his job, they probably win.

Brady and Welker have been off all season, not just Welker's injury but seeing things differently. Remember the glare they gave each other against Buffalo. Seems like there's some real issues being on the same page with the new OC.

Brady has been inaccurate all year...no need to read more into than that

if you listen to boomer esiason

he says something interesting that brady when missing his throws is getting so animated which is not very like him from the past yrs which is a bit unsettling. i tend to agree with him on this part.

On the first instance, Brady doesn't think he was inaccurate. Basically, Welker saw he was home free and went for it, while Brady was thinking, let's just convert the 3rd down.

It really is hard to get on either of them for the screw-up, but you'd hope that in the future, they were at least on the same page.

must be the OC

It's a mental thing. Manning and Palmer both went through it.

I agree with this, one wonders how long Moss and Welker will put up with it.

Pot stirrer. They are both team players. They don't 'put up' with it. They play the game.

There have been some issues with Brady's vision lately. Brady had no pressure on him. I'm not sure why he felt that Welker shouldn't have gone for it, all things considered.

So you don't see Brady throwing his WR's under the bus?

You watching the games?

Why are these "synching" issues such a problem when they were not a problem when both Welker and Moss were new additions to the offense a couple of years ago? Is it Brady, is it the QB coach or both? Its' 'gotta be Brady. I have to beleive that BB would quietly remove the QB coach's responsibilities (defacto OC) if he were the main problem.

Look at Peyton Manning. He has no "same page" issues with his no-name, out of no-where receivers. This is a Brady problem. And quite frankly, I am sick of him saying "we" need to execute better. HE needs to execute better. As a leader, he really needs to shoulder the blame, especially when when the blame lies squarely on his shoulders.

Can I get an AMEN? Better duck for cover...... the Patriots Good, World Bad mob is on the move, dismantling the body parts of the anti-Tom truth-seekers...it's a bloody mess I tell you.

So Tom is saying if Welker made the right read on that play then the ball Tom threw at Welker's ANKLE would have been caught by Wes??
I think Tom is the one who's not reading the play right and making the right throws.
If Brady makes the right read and hits Welker in stride Wes is still running.....

He threw to Welker a ball that would be complete if Welker were looking for a first down and not a home run.

The ridiculous stuff I read on this board about Brady the last two days has made me think some of my fellow fans panic at the first sign of adversity.

This doesn't mean Brady is infallible.

He said it himself: No excuses for missing Randy. When it comes to Welker, though, clearly they were not on the same page.

You want Brady to lie?

when brady had no name receivers he didnt really have trust issues. he threw to anyone who was open and charlie was on the sidelines to chew the WR's .Now he looks for moss, welker and watson.
Aiken was our 3rd WR and wasnt even thrown to yesterday despite playing a lot of snaps. that part is hurting us and i think bill knows it.

Yes, if Welker curled in like he usually does on a 3rd down conversion Wes catches the ball.

Why was it at his ankles? Because Wes was sprinting into the open. Not curling. Heck, that's why it was incomplete. You think Brady thought that Welker should have had that? Please.

Except that last year he did. How do I know? The pundits were falling over themselves trying to explain this. Remember, he missed training camp last year. Also, carving up the dregs of the NFL, is somewhat overrated.

I think the problem here is people had/still have unrealistic expectations of where Brady should be right now. His high school QB guru stated that the first eight games were going to be a struggle. We should have expected the same. Playing top teams has coumpounded this.

Once game 10 rolls around, we will know if this is a lost year.

I would also add that ACL injuries are really considered two year injuries.

The main message that Tom Brady is conveying there is that the game is over and thats that. Its all about next week and being better on the field that they were this week. Its all about the W.

Thats what has made the guy so great, he just forgets the bad things and moves on.

Stop making excuses for Brady. He hit Welker IN THE ANKLE on the play in question. It was a bad throw whether he was trying for the 3rd down or a homerun.
No I don't want Brady to lie. What I want is more accountability from him concerning HIS struggles. If Brady and his receivers aren't on the same page then perhaps Tom needs to stay after school and put in the time to straighten out the situation. Tom used to do that. I'm not so sure that's the case any longer.
