Belichick needs to call the plays on offense for rest of season

This Bill O'brien experiment has now failed. the pats look much better with BB calling the plays. With Josh, he never had to worry about the offense. Now, he does. O'Brien (or whoever was calling the plays yesterday) has proved he can't call plays. I couldn't figure out why we ran the ball so much. was it the altitude?

I think BB should call the offence and the defence plays . Dan Pees is more problematic than O 'Brien .

After all we have good design plays like 3rd down to Welker and the overthrown to Randy

Five games into his tenure of calling plays and you say it failed? Really?!? Look at some of the play calling early in 2005 with a healthy Brady and you saw uneven play calling. It takes time for a new OC to get used to it just like any rookie.

BTW, how is it O'Brien's fault that Brady missed both a wide open Moss and Welker for what would have been one definitely TD and another probable TD? If Brady connected on those two plays that were well designed and called perfectly to exploit a Broncos, weakness. People wouldn't be crying about the play calling right now and the Pats would have scored 28 points.

If Brady connected on those two plays that were well designed and called perfectly to exploit a Broncos, weakness. People wouldn't be crying about the play calling right now and the Pats would have scored 28 points.

Not to mention other passes, like the sideline to Moss that was too high by about 2 feet. Playcalling on offense is moot until the QB executes the throws.

no, BB called the plays in the last two games if I'm not mistaken. O'Brien was calling the plays in the Bills, Jets and Broncos games. our offense was anemic against the jets and broncos. i'm just saying that it appears that we are better off with BB calling offensive plays. We can't afford to lose any more games. the jets are actually pretty decent this year and the division is not ours for the taking.

mike reiss seems to think Deen Pees is an excellent coordinator. I do think that the offense and defense lacks that killer instinct they had under Weis and Crennel. Case in point - Super Bowl 42. We couldn't stop Eli on the biggest drive of the year. We couldn't score one more TD in that game to knock the giants out.

I actually had no problem with the amount of times that we ran the ball yesterday. I just thought that it would have been better if we switched up WHEN they were called. I wasn't a big fan of passing it on first and second down then running it on third down to try to pick up four. I would have liked to see two early runs on first and second down then a throw.

I wouldn't mind seeing BB take over the defensive play calling though.

i'm not complaining about the super bowl, but i see the same trends on offense and defense THIS YEAR. you got to knock your opponent out. can't keep them around in the fourth quarter.

Tell that to a defense that yielded 424 total yards... most of them to future Hall of Famer Kyle Orton.

i don't care about stats. You see, the defense didn't stop them on that 98 yard TD drive at the end of the game despite all the yardage they gave up before that. And on offense, we couldn't punch it in at the end when it mattered. This late game inability to deliver a knock out blow is going to haunt this team. And i'm not just talking about this year. This goes back to the Colts AFCCG which was eons ago but the same principle applies.

Maybe you saw a staunch defensive effort. If you did then you must have a field day at bars when staring down 400 pound chicks. I didn't see that. I saw a terrible defensive effort that played a bigger hand in losing us the game than our Hall of Fame quarterback and offensive play calling did.

I don't have a problem with the number of runs vs. passes. However, it would be nice to see more play action passes or some different formations to keep the defense guessing a bit. Seems like I could guess whether the play was run or pass fairly consistently. Imagine how accurate someone who spent all week watching film would be. TOO MUCH EMPTY BACKFIELD. You could see the LB's and safeties immediately start dropping back. Can't the offense do something/anything to at least cast doubt for a second or two?

The offence getting shut-out in the second half (same as the Jets game). I would like to think it has something to do with offence not being able to counter when the opposing defence makes adjustments at half time. To me that is the responsiblity of the OC.

I agree that those two drives were defended very very poorly, however It would have helped if the offense would actually give them some rest instead of coming off the field every 2 minutes due to stupid playcalling/execution

well...the missed FG, overthrow's to moss or mankins getting overpowered by holliday . had any been connected the OC would not be targetted now. its easy to blame the OC/DC and all. ultimately its team loss
at critical times ST/offense/defense they all didnt play complimentary enough. no one unit cost the game.
