Derrick Burgess trade was a complete bust.
This guy is totally washed up !

I would much rather have Braylon Edwards for
our 3rd & 5th round picks.

We need a third receiver who can beat one on one coverage.
Edwards may drop passes, but so does Brandon Marshall.
I would welcome either of them over what we have to put on the field
with Welker & Moss.

How would Clay Matthews or Rey Maualuga have looked after the draft ? BB passes on these stud LB's. Unreal !

Has Braylon Edwards suited up in a Jets uniform already?!? Did I miss his 8 TD performance this weekend? Did Mangini already get fired from the Browns (because I don't see Eric and Bill sitting at a negotiation table any time soon)?

They also gave away their #2 WR and backup LB so throw Wes Welker and Gary Guyton into the deal

Maualuga is perfect for the Bengals' defense, but not the Pats'. The knock on Maualuga is his football intelligence. That isn't a liability in Marvin Lewis' defense that just asks him to run around and make plays, but wouldn't fly in this defense.

I believe we passed on Maualuga because he got a 15 on the Wonderlic test.
You need a brain to play on our defense.

You are right...

...the four horsemen are just waiting... ;)

Chauncey Stuckey does not equal Wes Welker.
Stuckey has never had more than 32 receptions in a season.
Welker had had 110+ the past 2 seasons.

I do not believe Cleveland is looking at Stuckey as a long term starter.
If they were just looking for a short term replacement we could have
given them Galloway & Banta-Cain.

But you are assuming that Mangini wanted to trade with us?? And versa vica...

Let's give him a bit longer. Except for streaks where he maddog rushed the QB, he not looked dominant and seems to disappear for long periods of time. Fitness poor? Not sure.

Don't kid yourself, Edwards would be just as likely to struggle in the offense as Burgess is in the defense.

i agree, you have to give this one time and see how it turns out. Edwards was just in a really bad situation with cleveland

But not to root for it though...

And I didn't like the Burgess deal, but I think it's too early to declare him a bust. This is a much different system than Oakland, so he's going to need some time to adjust. He wasn't even here for the entire TC, so he's playing catch-up.

As for Edwards, we'll have to see if he brings his stone hands with him to New York or not. But lets at least watch him play a game with Sanchez before declaring it was a great deal or not.

I definitely wouldn't want Edwards over Burgess. If I had the option to choose, I would choose not to bring Burgess on at all. The guy has been a ghost this season. Unless that changes (and I don't think it will), this was an absolute waste of a trade.

So you're basically equating Stuckey = Welker.:ugh:

What we need right now is a pass rusher. I don't think Edwards fits that bill nor Rey or Clay. But BB definitely miscalculated on Burgess.

Bigger question is, why don't we use AD as a full time pass rusher instead of him out in coverage?

Edwards cost about twice as much but I would definitely take him right now considering Burgess has done nothing, why not take a shot on Edwards. Maybe Burgess will do something as the season moves on especially as we've played some tough teams so far.
