I don't get it, Orton isn't known for being a 'big play' QB... he's not going to sling it down the field.

We gave up so much underneath, it was ridiculous. We should have been playing tight the whole game.

This was the real issue in the game. People are going to blame Brady, others will blame the OC, but the game was lost with this strategy. Clearly the Pats outcoached themselves.

It's the old "bend but don't break"

You would think after the first half where the Broncos moved the ball easily they'd adjust, but no, they let Orton wind up with 350 yards.

I was aksing myself the same question. We were playing scard except for that drive at the end of the fourth. Youd think they would continue to play tight man but no. It really angers me because if Kyle Orton did that to us what will the good qb's do in the playoffs?

Playoffs? Don't talk about playoffs. Are you kidding me? Playoffs? we are just hoping we can win a game, another game. :p

The secondary gave up a total of 17 points, and played off a lot in the second half with a 10 point and then a seven point lead.

The offense had the job of scoring ONE POINT in the second half and failed. Brady had Welker open for a touchdown at 4 minutes and missed. Did the defense fold? No! Brady had the ball again with more than 2 minutes left, needing to score a field goal.

And you guys want to blame the defense and defensive coaching!!!! They needed to understand that the offense was incapable of scoring even one point in the second half.

Defense drove me batsh*t crazy tonight. Especially since they proved they can be aggressive and dominant against the Ravens.

Playoffs???

the two big issues that led to the loss in my opinion:

A) Brady is an average QB so far this year. He cant hit the open WRs and is just not throwing the ball well at all. The semi long pass to a wide open Randy Moss in the end zone was inexcusable. His knee is fine, so we can quit using that excuse. tom Brady is the best QB we have ever had and one of the top QBs in the NFL, EVER...but he is not above being called out when he clearly is having a terrible season.

B) The CBs suck...plain and simple. They play way too far off the ball and got shredded by Kyle frickin Orton. Give me a break.

Moroney was a none factor in this game. He missed a block that almost got Brady killed, and then i dont think he played more than a couple of downs after that. Its a shame because this was the game he could have showed what he is made of as a RB. another flop.

While I agree that Brady sucked today, the criticism of our defensive strategy is not without merit.

The fact that we played soft and allowed Orton to be in rythm all game long and did not put pressure on him is dumbfounding. We only put pressure on him in that last drive and we came out with good results.

Our defense played extremely passive today. None of the aggressiveness it showed last week.

They are simplu not good enought to stop pro players . Maybe Meryweather is a good UFL player or Arena Football MVP, but a guy that can`t even tackle, men he is awful

There are different different game plans for different games. Posters want a blitzing, aggressive game plan against every team. Belichick disagrees. I agree with Belichick. In general, the defense met their general goals.

All the offense had to do was to score once in the second half. That is not too much to ask.

Please tell me you're kidding.

While I agree that there are different gameplans for different games, they underestimated Orton's ability to hit short and intermediate routes and allowed the Broncos to go up and down the field. Our offense obviously wasn't getting it done, but we were still ahead in the second half and we allowed two long drives including a 95 yard drive where we played extremely soft and Orton picked us apart. There comes a time when you gotta make adjustments (something we used to do when Crennel was here).

The times we did blitz, we were fairly successful. We should have done a better job of mixing it up. We played soft all game long. Gave their receivers too much of a cushion and the Broncos took advantage of that.

You right, Brady did suck, but watching our prevent-like defense was excruciating especially since we showed last week that we can be aggressive and be successful.

I feel like "bending and breaking" peas neck.

<< Why the hell did the secondary play so far off the receivers >>

Uhh, because our coach and defensive coordinator always play like this? And they repeatedly fail doing it if Brady isn't scoring 30 points a game?

Because New England fails to ever place pressure on a passer?

Because we have a weak, kitten defense, that embraces flawed philosophies year after year?

Meow.

Although I agree the CBs did play a good amount off of the receivers, we cannot blame this loss on them. They gave up 20 points to a solid Denver offense. Our O didnt score once in the 2nd half, clearly this loss is on them and not the D

Either you are a spastic or you are joking.
