When did he get injured?

Well at least we'll get to see where Chung is at. Actually maybe not because Springs will probably shift to safety.

Chung looked terrible against the Giants. Hoepfully he has improved if we end up giving him significant snaps there.

This takes away our dime which has been huge the last two games, unless they trust Chung enough to plug him in, or shift Springs and put in Butler.

Indeed he did, but IIRC they were playing him at cover corner. It will take a lot more than one injury to a DB before we see Chung lining up one-on-one with Brandon Marshall!

He's been limited by a shoulder injury. Probably ok to rest him and move some parts around in a game against a game-managing QB.

You don't think we'd play Meriweather & McGowan?

Huh? Sanders is a backup. McGowan and Meriweather have been starting for weeks now.

And he was covering Sinorice Moss who isn't a great WR but is far too quick for any true Safety.

That was preseason where they mix things up and put DB's on islands to see how they do.

I know, I was talking about the dime.

No offense but I'm not too terribly worried about this news. In fact, I started the "James Sanders is the Weak Link" thread right after the Baltimore game. Rewatching the game confirmed Sanders was slow, out of position, and a poor tackler. A good character guy? Absolutely! But when he's in there, our defense is weaker.

QB12

And another point to ponder...of the 7 DBs likely to suit up tomorrow, only 2 were on the roster last year.

I agree and disagree. I feel that Sanders is an excellent tackler who is rarely out of position. But I do agree that the defense is stronger with Meriweather/McGowan as the safeties.

it's time for the Patrick Chung coming out party! :rocker:

If Chung is on the field for more than 5 plays the Patriots are in trouble in the backfield. Unless they are up by 3 TD's and Bill wants him in a real game. He was made a fool of in the Giants game.

Wonder if Belichick had a problem with the DB's last year?

Maybe he was closing his eyes on 3rd and 27 like I was.

Yeah, but I think he'll improve. I was psyched when we got him. I'm interested to see Butler get more plays because he is an amazing athlete who showed against the ravens he can cover 1 on 1.

Chung is not ready, not saying he never will be but 5 weeks ago he looked lost. Butler on the other hand is ready now and will be a great CB for many years to come.
