OT: Jets tampering might have fueled Crabtree deal. Goodell protecting the Jets?

If the Jets wanted to force a trade, Crab would first have to sign with the 9ers, and at that point they would not need to trade him.

If Crab sat all year he would then automaticly be eligible to renenter the draft, 9ers would be out there #1 pick, and the Jets would have to hope that Crab fell to them in the draft.

I just don't get it.

The Niners' rights to sign Crabtree would have expired around Week 10.

Their rights to Crabtree, though, would not expire until the 2010 Draft; after free agency began, the Niners would have been able to trade him at that point and recoup something.

Got off easy with the draft pick for video-taping signals from the wrong location? A first round pick for filming from the sideline instead of the endzone like the Jets were doing is too light? The NFL needs to crack down on their cheating arses and make an example, media market or not. That's why we have rules. They apply for everybody not just somebody when you feel like it.

I think saying that there's some kind of vendetta against the Pats within the league is misguided. IMO, it's in the media, and not for any particularly sinister reason. ESPN knows that most of the country hates the Pats on account of their success, and therefore they can get people talking and get tons of viewership by feeding them what they want: anti-Patriots horse****. As always, it's all about money.

I think it is paranoia because of the huge leaps in logic at the beginning of the thread. I'm reading the argument as: The Jets weren't fined for tampering so Goddell must be in their back pocket. That's a huge leap of logic there. By the same logic Goddell must be in cahoots with Minnesota because there were no penalty to the Vikes for tampering with Favre. Could it be that there has been no penalty involved because tampering is hard to prove? The 49ers likely don't have a smoking gun to give to the league like Mangina did when he stabbed BB in the back. If such evidence surfaces, then of course the Jets should have the book thrown at them. But until that time, I'm not going to jump to ridiculous conclusions because of "a source with knowledge of the situation" says so. Instead I'm going to count down the days until the Pats get another chance to shut up that obese blabber-mouth coach ...

Exactly. It's a pretty easy argument that the Pats are the most successful franchise in the league and everyone loves to hate the person on top. The media needs an audience to make money and the best way to do that is to pile on the big dog, because that's what the losers want to see ... the winners brought down to their level.

I'm saying, there's been these allegations against the Jets repeatedly, you can't just sweep it under the carpet and not investigate.

Do a thorough investigation then come to the conclusion. Not the other way around.

FWIW and future infomation, this isn't completely accurate. After Week 10 the 49ers could still have signed him to a 2010 contract, using part of their 2010 rookie pool (even though they would not receive any extra in that pool for him).
