Headline columns with missing words online is stupid.

Anyway, nice article and a reminder why we read Mike's stuff.

New England Patriots Blog - Butler makes most of opportunity - ESPN Boston

Butler was around the ball in key moments in Sunday's 27-21 win over the Ravens, including the final drive of the game, but his on-field presence in crunch time wasn't by design.

It only happened because cornerback Jonathan Wilhite had an issue with his equipment.

"I didn't expect to go in, but as a sub, you're always keeping yourself ready," Butler explained. "That's what happened. I came in and they came at me a couple of times."

Guess other teams won't be so brave about the "he's a sub, go after him" plays now, huh? :D

Maybe we were lucky to win the Ravens game after all. Wilhite doesn't make the plays that Butler made on that last drive (the coverage in the end zone on Clayton and the hit on Mason to jar the ball loose).

Butler had his best game of the year against the Ravens. I went to the preseason game against the 'Skins and he has improved dramatically.

Butler and Bodden

2 starting CB's by December and possibly future bookends if we can resign Bodden

And the backup aint bad either

And wouldn't you expect improvement throughout the year from a talented rookie, especially if given some playing time?

Sure, but there are plenty of talented rookies that showed nothing even with playing time... I'm not going to name names here, but you know who I'm talking about. It's good to see that Butler is coming along as promised by his draft position and athletic talent.

Onec the damn CBA can get cleared up, it'll be interesting to see who gets signed...

Bodden might play himself out of NE's price range - but that would mean he'd have had a great season. We'll see.

I hope they find a way to keep him around, in todays NFL teams need at least 3 good corners. Bodden, Butler, and Wilhite form a really good tandem.

tandem is 2...Trio

I dont care how they do it, but they need to resign Bodden.

Our safety trio is even more impressive : McGowan & Merriweather have been very, very impressive and Sanders - though some would argue with me - has been good as well. Also, we shouldn't forget the Chungster in the background.
