OT: 49ers and Crabtree agree to deal

I disagree on all points.

You have your own personal understanding of negotiations.

Crabtree chose to use the options available to him under the CBA. Crabtree got $8M for agreeing to the 6th year. He did not have that in August. He is not in any sense a joke for negotiating.

And just BTW, why has he lost a season? Perhaps he won't get ROY awards, but he already has received that compensation in his contract. He will definitely contribute this year. And the Crabtree signing must move SF to be a favorite in making the playoffs.

I disagree on your points. Many people - perhaps including yourself - are obsessed with money. So he got a few extra bucks (I stand by the fact I think he could've gotten them in August, because in the end he fell into the slotting process). I care about working, not money. I am not the kind of person who would go somewhere "just for a few extra bucks" but I understand that many people are like that.

He put himself above everyone else - which is fine in this materialistic time, I guess. I wouldn't. There is a slotting process that everyone except Crabtree follows. The "negociating" you refer to is what I call being a self-absorbed brat who YES used the legal right to do so, but who is a fool for thinking he'd buck the system.

He will only contribute towards the end of the season, if at all - which for you is enough...

Finally, I hope he fails professionally. That part, yes, is personal. I work with people obsessed with themselves and they, in turn, make my job more difficult. I wish we could "cut them and take their playbook".

I suggest that you restrict yourself to watching youth football and high school football. In the NFL, football is a business. Certainly Kraft, Belichick, Seymour, Wilfork and Brady understand this. So do all the patriots. And yes, so do Crabtree and the owners.

In addition, I understand that there are those who think that players shouldn't be "obsessed with money" and should allow the owners to pay them whatever posters think is a fair wage. For these posters, players are scum if they think that money is important. Of course, it is fine if money is important to owners and coaches.

There is an agreement that governs pay and compensation. Crabtree did nothing wrong. SF did nothing wrong. If the system is wrong, it should be changed. I'm sure there are those who think that players shouldn't be allowed to negotiate.

It is because some managements think as you do that the players need a union and a union agreement. The best football players on the planet are not "brats" when they don't kiss the ***es of management. What do you think the most successful doctors on earth make? or the most successful rock singers? Player drafted in the first round are better than all but a few hundred players on the planet at most. Their services will make millions for the owners. They have every right to negotiate for their piece of the action.

There are BILLIONS and BILLIONS of revenue made by NFL teams. Of course, for you, only owners should care about the money. The players shouldn't worry their poor little heads about such important matters. Right!

Don't need to lecture me on NFL football... I have a job - it's a "business" - I like doing it and I am not obsessed with money. Tired of people always belittling others that put money second. Everyone isn't obsessed... though obviously you and Crabtree are.

I do not exclude owners. They are obsessed with money too. My comment was regarding Crabtree, who is a fool for not accepting the what was the eventual settlement earlier. I can go on, in similar fashion, about greedy, and in some cases moronic, owners.

You are waaaay to into "the rules" and "the rights" of the players via the CBA... He is a joke if he thinks he actually benefitted from the holdout (including fanancially). He got slotted. Point over. The funny money facade is transparent and just a way for the agent to "look good"... he, by the way, stayed away from the conference. Why ? So that he didn't look like a joke as well.

Did I ever say he shouldn't be allowed to negociate ? No. Did I say he wasn't within the rules ? No. He didn't benefit - neither financially, nor for his career (yes, some "crazies" actually think doing a good job is in itself a reward, while others only quantify success with money).
