Ravens players NOT to be fined for hits on Brady

I thought I heard this afternoon that Wright was fined for his hit on Flacco. Anyone else hear that?

LOL, haha

ill keep it in mind

Can't really say I'm shocked. Pollard wasn't fined last year either. A great job as always, Goodell.

According to this Twitter entry from Shalise Manza Young, Wright was fined $5K.

Like officiating, I realize the league is never going to be perfect with stuff like this, but at least try to be consistent. If two players (Wright and Ngata) commit the same penalty in the same game and their actions were comparable, don't fine one and not the other. That just doesn't make sense.

As far as Suggs not being fined, that doesn't make sense, either. The league emphasized the "no hitting the QB in the knees" rule this year, he violated it and was flagged for it. Under similar circumstances, Wilfork was fined earlier this season. I'd love to hear the explanation on why Suggs wasn't fined.

really wright was fined? i sure hope he fights it, cuz that some typical NFL bull

Suggs should be fined, it was full of intent to injure.

I hate to say this, but the Patriots will be getting the short end of the stick on this stuff for a long time. It's not right. It's not fair, but that's life in Goodell's post-"Spygate" double-standard NFL.

Baltimore talk shows lit up yesterday (actually all week) about the "no fines for Ravens" report. The Ravens and the fans felt vindicated that they did nothing wrong on Sunday, and that the flags were egregious against the Ravens. Thought I was going to puke, i had to turn on OMG, the news station.....

i could really care less for the hit to the head

but the hit to the knee should be fined, and should be fined nicely....if wilfok gets fined, so should suggs
Wilfork wasn't fined for the penalty on Edwards in week one (though Thomas was for not tackling Edwards gently enough.)

However, I can't understand Wright being fined at all.

On a separate note regarding the Raven fans who feel vindicated: no fine does not equate to an admission by the NFL that the call was incorrect. Every week there are many players who get roughing the passer and personal fouls on the field, but do not get fined. In fact, the vast majority of those calls do not result in a fine.

I understand your point that not all penalties result in fines. But, listening to Baltimore sports stations yesterday, several hosts were actually leading with the concept; Raven's players not fined for their hits, SO, the officials were wrong.....AND, the phone lines lit up with conspiracy theories and the Pats have the refs in their back pockets. Granted, it makes for good talk radio, but many Ravens players have their own talk shows, and they felt vindicated too.

Hopefully someone dives at Suggs knee this weekend.

It almost feels like the city of Baltimore is becoming what I Indianapolis used to be, whiny little *****es. Every time we beat them we can expect them to cry like girls after wards. Really a pity because their fans can really talk football. When they don't think the world is out to get them that is ;)

And you would not believe what happens when the Ravens play the Colts.....oh the whining..........

I guess the NFL had enough of the craven whining

They should be bytch slapped for all the whining they did...

Mike Wright got fined.

I'm shaking my head.

Different situation now. There is a league rule against going low on the QB..

Still can't believe that Anderson / Goodell are being so strict with the Pats but not with anyone else. He must want Kraft's ire or something

With Wright being fined and the Raven players not it has got me wondering. Now that Braylon Edwards is now a Jet will GODell suspend him for violating league rules in the off the field altercation? It would not surprise me at all to see GODell say there isn't enough info to warrant a suspension,...But if was a Patriot it would be 4 games automatic.
