I realize that the Colts have played 3 High School teams, and that with guys like Wayne and Clark, who couldn't be sucessful...but the guy really looks confident and in control. I won't "buy in" until the team gets back to the promised land, but he's starting to play like a wise old Elway.

I think Manning is definitely better with age.
He has zero weaknesses now.
Basically, a perfect pocket QB, even in 4th quarter or clutch situations.
You can't fool or rattle him like we used to be able to in 2003 or 2004.

Luckily for us, his contract is so enormous that his team will never be serious contenders anymore.

What's even more impressing is that he's doing it with a 6th rd. Division III and a 4th round white mormon as his #2 and #3 wide recievers. ;)

WEAPONS!!!

Thats overstated. He has all that he needs with Wayne and Clark. The rest is just gravy. He is a damn good QB. No debating that.

Manning has always been the best regular season QB of this era and one of the best of all time.

His Weakness is the playoffs. He has a 7-8 lifetime record with an 85 QB rating (10 points lower than his career regular season avg) his post season TD/INT ratio sucks and he's lost in the first round 6 times.

Compare that with other SB Champion future HOF QBs who played in this decade. Favre, Aikman(already HOF), and Brady. All have winning playoff records and playoff QB ratings and TD/INT ratios that are basically the same as the regular season. Also true of borderline HOFers Warner and Roethlisberger.

IF Manning played in the playoffs like he does in the regular season he would already have 4 rings instead of one.

Garcon is a beast of a rookie. I would love to see him on the other side of Moss. Don't sell your receivers short.

I would say the majority of teams have a legitimate #1 WR and TE threat, so moot point.

That was probably true prior to the 2003 season, but come on now, we're going on like 7 years. During that span, Manning's QB rating in the postseason is right on par with his regular season QB rating. Let's start pointing fingers elsewhere for the Colts 7-8 postseason record.

It doesn't make much since when bradys PS rating is 88 with a 14-3 record and Manning's is 85 with a losing record. Can you explain that? Maybe the difference is Vinatieri and Vanderjagt, maybe?

Not selling our young WR's short......just heard for so many years how Manning is the product of his weapons, when in fact, it is the other way around..

Just when Garcon gets all the pub...BOOM...here comes Collie. I understand he is a rook, and Garcon is in his 2nd year, but these guys are getting valuable field time while Gonzo is out.

Manning is definitely getting better with experience. I still don't doubt that his early 'greatness' was a product of having formidable talent around him. However, he's worked and studied so hard over the years, that he's the one bringing guys along in their progress now.

It still sickens me, that had someone made a play in 2006, we'd still be referring to him as Horseface the Choker.

Don't worry, he can't help himself in the postseason. He won in 06 because he played the Chiefs, an offense-less Ravens, a injury-riddled and Reche Caldwell led Pats, and Rex Grossman's Bears. That kind of path to the Super Bowl doesn't come around often. Put any competitive team on him (A healthy Pats, Steelers, Changers) and he's one and done as usual.

For Colts fans, this must be like dating a hot girl only to find out she's horrible in bed.

At least we hit it.

What is it with Colts fans obsession and insecurity with the Patriots? We make a comment, and 10 minutes later they're on here with a lame rebuttal.

I mean, we haven't won a Super Bowl in 5 years, so what's the obsession Workhorse? Still fear that as good as you're playing now, we'll beat you in November and knock you out of the playoffs in January?

If the Brady Manning comparison was out of reach in Brady's favor the past decade, I would say that Manning could very well be closing the gap on the argument of who's better overall if he gets the job done this year.

Dude I've been around long before you got here. I was here before the Colts finally got the monkey off their backs and beat the Patriots. It has nothing to do with fear or obsession or insecurity. I post around here from time to time. I generally am respectful and don't talk too much trash. I just come to talk it up with fans of my team's rival. It helps make the world a better place, you'll see.

Looks like you signed up right around the time you saw the Pats were struggling in 2005. Where were you when Manning was completing passes to Ty Law and Rodney Harrison in 03 and 04?

You don't see me on Colts boards, as much as I hate your team.

And let me just say for you Pats fans, yes Manning is a great REGULAR SEASON quarterback, he always has been, but that's what makes him Marino and Favre like and not Brady and Montana like. I can't believe Brady has a few mediocre games and Manning is off to a quick start against high school teams and people are acting like Brady's all done. I guarantee, the Patriots go further than the Colts in the playoffs this year.

Let Manning have his regular season MVPs. I'll take the Lombardi in February.

On the one hand, you're right. In the end, the Colts have to perform in the playoffs. On the other, I don't know if you can even be certain that the Pats MAKE the playoffs. Colts may not either, but what a huge collapse a 3 game lead in the Division would be. Still...it could happen..which do you think is more likely...Pats or Colts missing playoffs?

Both the Colts and Pats are in the playoffs. It's a matter of if the Pats win the division or not, and as the Giants and 2005 Steelers proved, that doesn't mean a whole lot.
