Lost in the afterglow from yesterday's victory was Sands' performance after, what, 1 or 2 practices? Dude got push, and by the second or third series, was commanding double teams, with Birk getting help from either the Left or Right guard. The more double teams this guy commands, the easier it is for AD, Guyton, or others to shoot the gaps with stunts and blitzes to the QB. Sands deserves props for a job well done, and which will only get better.

He was a monster, I watched him on one down and he was just pushing the line back like it was nothing.

His first game and suddenly the dline looked ridiculous.

Did we seriously get him from the Raiders? :D

Yup- they really are basically our farm team at this point.

The man is a monster. Hopefully Brace can get going. Love to see a 1/2-ton line in the 3-4 of Wilfork, Sands and Brace!

In all seriousness, the type of size up-front envelopes blockers and allows the speed & gap guys like Mayo, Guyton, Merriweather, McGowen and to a lesser extent, AD to make plays.

You bet, he was part of the blockbuster trade in which we sent Richard Seymour, a 2010 3rd and a 2010 5th to Oakland for Derrick Burgess, Terdell Sands and a 2011 1st. ;)

At some point, do we trade one of our huge guys to San Diego? They're desperate for a Jammal Williams fill-in, and we seem to have a surplus if Sands turns out to be a real player.

What are you talking about? He did come from the Raiders but was not part of any trade. He was released by the Raiders, nothing more.

Well hats off to Kitty Litter - an excellent start. That said, it's a 16-game season. We've all seen guys play great for one game, four games, whatever, and backslide.

Crossing my fingers for the "kid" though, liked yesterday.

So why was he cutaroo from the Raiders?

Can't be just simple incompetence....and why wasn't he signed by another team aroo?

I think he just wanted out.
He spoke with Burgess and is on record as having spoken to Mount Washington as to how things operate in NE and wanted to be released so he played in order to be released. At the very least he wanted out of Oaktown and hoped his references would get him a new gig.

Perhaps, Big Ted, Randy, and/or Burgess put in a good word to BB and co and thus he is here.

I've said in a past post if they can get this guy to play with a low pad level he will be able to command, double and triple teams. BB and Pepper can coach him I think and get him to be even better. Now that they have film on the guy they can do what they do and coach him up. Drop your pad level, user your hands better to control blockers. Etc. This guy could wind up being a HUGE (har har har) steal.

A goal line D line consisting of Sands/Brace/Wilfork will make Wilfork the lightest of the bunch. If you can believe that. And should make running up the middle incredibly difficult.

Damn, I forgot to DVR the game so I don't have the video to go back and watch. Hopefully this game will be on NFL replay so I can go back to look for little things like this.

Interesting. How many snaps do you think he got? It seemed every time I looked it was Wilfork and Wright in there.

I am hoping he is better playing than his first name.. TURDell

Indeed it will. Tomorrow night at 9:30 I believe (at least that's what I saw watching the NFL Network's highlights last night).

It was funny when he got in the game, you could tell. We all shouted atthe screen..."Who is THAT?"

He seemed to get a seymour kind of "Tall man" push, and certainly occupied space. I liek what I saw in limited pass rushing, how well he defends the run has yet to be seen, but you can't have enough big bodies out there.

keep it up 74!
