I gotta go with the play of Mike Wright. I never knew Wright had so much explosion off the line of scrimmage. It will be interesting to see if he can keep up this level of play or if fatigue will be a factor as we get closer to the midpoint of the season.

Darius Butler. The rookie did good this week...

Sammy Morris showed he's back - and I just loved that.

Brady looks infinitely better and it came against Baltimore. While not the dominating defense they were last year, it may be the best one we've faced this year. I didn't expect him to look this good for at least another few weeks but he was on just about every throw.

I'm surprised that we didn't put the Ravens away. Looked like we were dominating then Brady fumbles and gives up a TD to bring them back in the game. I didn't think the game should be close, but the Ravens scratched their way back into it.

As for player surprise: Mike Wright for sure. Wow!

The composure of the young guys. They didn't get involved in the jawing, draw any stupid penalties, or fall apart when they gave up a play or two.

Darius Butler's coverage and ball-hawking skills. Mike Wright's bull rushes a close second. Sammy Morris morphing into a Kevin Faulk-like role is also noteworthy and a good use of his skills.

Sands had a tackle!

Oh yeah, Sands consistently got a big push up the middle each play he was in, to the point he was drawing double teams.

The way we attacked on defense. I haven't seen us attack the offense with blitz the way we did today. Granted, we got hit with a couple of timely screens, but for the most part, I liked what I saw. We gave up 14 points on defense against an offense that is one of the better and more balanced there is in the NFL.

Our defense speed was on display, specially in our secondary. Not too many easy completions from what I saw unlike the past few years. Flacco made some great throws, but for the most part, we were there in coverage and our blitz got to him.

I'm looking forward to Mayo getting back and how that will affect our defense.

Merriweather's a stud, McGowan is a keeper, Butler is a future starter, and Guyton's cover skills is underated.

I'm definately going to keep tabs on that mountain. I'd hate my plane to run into him.

As others have stated, it's definitely the pass rush.

Otherwise, Meriweather stepping up his game to a Pro Bowl level and Guyton playing inside without really skipping a beat. When Mayo returns, this will be a disgusting unit.

I'm wondering if McGowan is a steal?

I feel the same way, I was very surprised how much they dialed things up today. For the most part the first couple games were very vanilla, not today.

Just an excellent football game all the way around.
