Q: So do you think Welker is going to be banged up all season or will this go away eventually? -- Joe (Hartford, Conn.)
A: Joe, my hunch is that he is dealing with some type of swelling in the knee, and the fact that it's happened so early in the season is troubling. It will not surprise me if there comes a point at which Welker is shut down -- maybe around the bye -- with the thinking to have the knee cleaned out so he has a chance to return to full health. This is all speculation on my part based on my feeling that that when a player is dealing with a knee injury and is a game-time decision in Weeks 2 and 3, it's usually not the type of situation that goes away on its own.

I heard similar chatter on NESN that more or less said the same thing.
Not to mention, he specifically says he's speculating.Nowhere does it say IR. My goodness.
Reiss said it would not surprise him if Welker were shut down around the bye to have the knee cleaned so Welker could return to full health (presumably during the season), but added he was just speculating as he lacked details on the knee injury.
I didn't read Reiss' comment as suggesting Welker would be done for the season, but "return to full health" is a little vague on timetables.
Not to mention, he specifically says he's speculating.
In this case, though, he specifically said he's speculating :Even if it's true (and I suspect Reiss had some basis as he's not one to blindly speculate)
Reiss said:This is all speculation on my part
I'm more worried about the obvious omisions from that statement.
No mention of Moss?
Am I reading this right?
Does the total lack of any mention of Moss mean that the Patriots are hiding a season ending injury to him?
