Don't know if any of you saw Mike's mail bag today. He said that it would not surprise him is Welker was shut down for the year? Am I reading that right?

I hope not.

That guy's my favorite crazy white WR since Wayne Chrebet;)

Reiss said it would not surprise him if Welker were shut down around the bye to have the knee cleaned so Welker could return to full health (presumably during the season), but added he was just speculating as he lacked details on the knee injury.

I didn't read Reiss' comment as suggesting Welker would be done for the season, but "return to full health" is a little vague on timetables.

Guys, this not reading stuff is getting out of hand. Why don't you just post what Reiss actually said if you can't comprehend it yourself? That way, we don't have to get freaked out by your incorrect interpretation of what he ACTUALLY said.

He said, IIRC, that Welker may have some swelling in his knee and he may need to get it cleaned out sometime around the bye week. He never said anything CLOSE to what you're suggesting.

This is what Mike reiss has said regarding Welker...."Joe, my hunch is that he is dealing with some type of swelling in the knee, and the fact that it's happened so early in the season is troubling. It will not surprise me if there comes a point at which Welker is shut down -- maybe around the bye -- with the thinking to have the knee cleaned out so he has a chance to return to full health. This is all speculation on my part based on my feeling that that when a player is dealing with a knee injury and is a game-time decision in Weeks 2 and 3, it's usually not the type of situation that goes away on its own."
I do not know what having his knee clean means....OR if that means putting him on IR for the year...Is this a seson ending situation?? Is it something they could do now so he will be in full health LATER in the year?? None of that was mentioned at all...I wonder..usually shutting a player down..means FOR THE YEAR...maybe it can be done so that he can return in a few weeks..I do not know.

I don't know. How about supplying a link? Or quoting the part that confuses you.

Q: So do you think Welker is going to be banged up all season or will this go away eventually? -- Joe (Hartford, Conn.)

Here it is. I guess just rest him for the playoffs.

Pats726 did quote it in full. The key word in the paragraph is "speculation," so given the lack of factual basis you may dismiss it as such.

Is there an award for the most misleading/idiotic post of the year on this site? If so, this one gets my vote.

Welker 8 for 85 Sunday.

I heard similar chatter on NESN that more or less said the same thing.

Branch was shut down for 7-8 weeks in 04 b/c of a leg injury. Same year he wins SB MVP.

I assume "shut it down" means get the knee situation properly diagnosed, drain/clean it out, and whatever the course of teatment subscribed ensures that he'll be 100% healthy for the playoffs.

Nowhere does it say IR. My goodness.

I would hate to see Welker out for long.

Hopefully nothing comes of this and we get Welker back soon.

Somebody like Reiss speculating is probably a little more significant than most in the media, but I did not get the feeling he knew anything specific.

Not to mention, he specifically says he's speculating.

Even if it's true (and I suspect Reiss had some basis as he's not one to blindly speculate), it's clear that he means he may have to go out for some period of time to get the knee cleaned out and to fully recover from that procedure. That's a lot different than having season ending surgery.

In this case, though, he specifically said he's speculating :

Reiss said:
This is all speculation on my part

I'm more worried about the obvious omisions from that statement.

No mention of Moss?

Am I reading this right?

Does the total lack of any mention of Moss mean that the Patriots are hiding a season ending injury to him?

hehe. OT, but by any chance, do you have IA's solo album Walk into Light? I love that album and can't find it anywhere for less than $60.
