I'll be updating this on a semi-regular basis (every couple of weeks or so).

The good news for the Pats: TEN is 0-3. JAX is 1-2.

The bad news for the Pats: TEN and JAX are the worst teams by strength of schedule.

This is bad because picks cycle by record. So if three teams have the same record, and pick A-B-C in the first round, they pick B-C-A in the second.

So, right now, there are seven winless teams, and nine one-win teams. Thus, the picks that currently belong to the Patriots are:

Tennessee: #39
Jacksonville: #48

Next week: TEN and JAX play one another.

First of all, thanks for keeping track and updating this each week. We appreciate it a lot and hope you'll continue to do so. Secondly, LET'S GO, Titans, I guess!

Actually, I'm not sure which works out better for New England—a Titans win (which would likely give the Pats the first and last of the 1-3 picks), or a Jaguars win (which would likely give the Pats the last 0-4 pick and the last 2-2 pick).

I'm rooting against the Titans, of the two teams they are the ones that could get hot and string some wins together so I want them to get as many losses as possible now. After this they host Indy then are @ NE, even if they win this they could be an unbelievable 1-5 after the next three.

Both teams are better than their records. Tennessee has been in all 3 games, and Jax has had only one stinker. If Jax can take it to Tenn in weeks 4 and 8, Tenn could be 0-7 going into SF. This weeks Tenn-Jax game will be the season for Tenn...a must win. If Tenn can split with Jax, 6-10 record is possible. Jax has the easier schedule and I can see an 8-8 at this point

A word about Oakland

Thank you for this thread!

It's also interesting to think about Oakland: Where do we want them to finish THIS year in order to do as badly as possible in 2010? I think we want them to do well enough this year to not give up on the hopeless JaMarcus Russell, so that they can ride Russell to 3-13 in 2010.

Remember, though: Al Davis loves JaMarcus Russell. Even if Tom Cable wants to bench Russell, Davis may not let Cable do it.

Unfortunately, if the Raiders replace Russell, they will be good. That guy is the worst quarterback that I have seen since Rex Grossman. And don't tell me that Grossman didn't suck because he had five turnovers in the biggest game of his life. He virtually handed Manning a Super Bowl victory on a single platter. He was thought to be the most incompetent professional athlete that I have ever seen. Then came the Raiders. They managed to top incompetence with utter stupidity. They have the biggest, dumbest, inaccurate quarterback since Grossman. If they get anyone, and I mean anyone, that is even half decent, they could be good.

Dumping Garcia proved they don't want to be good.

So, you've never seen Sage Rosenfels play then

I don't know but I think I would have to go with Ryan Leaf....

It's really hard to argue with Ryan Leaf. There have been a lot of stupid and uprofessional athletes who have blown it in the NFL, but he really sets the bar.
