Its obviously not my call and I dont know how healthy he really is but I say he should sit one more week. He is a big part of the future of this team and I dont think he should rush back for a week 4 game no matter how big.

Let's not jump the gun. The kid has a lot of potential. We aren't desperate right now and have no need to panic. Let's not rush the kid back and ruin him like the Redskins did with Lavar Arrington.

Agreed. Pats D has been surprisingly solid. Guyton is filling in nicely.

Funny to think I figured the offense would be forced to carry the young inexperienced defense.

I'd be schocked if he was back for Baltimore. I'd give him two more games out of the line-up and then expect to see him back.

They are, they've been holding the ball twice as long as the other team and keeping the defense off the field as much as possible. They're not racking up points but they're controlling the ball.

I think this question will be more relevant in week 6 at the earliest. Let the other guys maximize their potential and gel-- I think there is no need to rush him back.

Guyton and the Patriots are doing great on defense.....I posted a link about the Patriots defensive ranking through 3 weeks. Check it out you will be AMAZED. I would like to see more picks and sacks but hey as they gel maybe we see more exotic stuff.

The defense has played solid, but be careful with those total averages. We're dominating time of possession due to our offense, which benefits the total yards stats for the D.

Exactly. I think the best stat to look at would be drive efficiency. How many plays/yards to our opponents average per possession? How many points do they average per possession?

Week 5 is my guess...... week 4 would be good but a little early I think.

My guess is they keep him home for the road trip to Denver...and then he plays the following week against Tenn.

thats great news, awesomo , now i shall keep drinking cause of that!!! GO pats!!!!

Vince Wilfork injury not expected to be longterm - BostonHerald.com

Jerod Mayo Walking Without Crutches - New England Patriots - NESN.com

At the bottom of the first article it says Mayo has no limp. Maybe this is why Prescott Burgess was released today - Mayo coming back quicker than we all anticipated.

we need mayo against baltimore (and wilfork too)

no crutches.

Sorry to be doom and gloom, but walking without crutches does not equal being ready to play linebacker in the NFL. The guy completely tore his MCL. We'll see him after the bye, most likely.

LMAO, no he did not completely tear his MCL, in fact there was no tear. It was a level 3 MCL sprain, had one in high school it hurts like a *****. Going to be up his pain tolerance. He would miss well passed the Bye if it was a tear. Your doom and gloom is unwarrented.

The symptoms and severity of MCL injuries are evaluated on a scale of 1-3.

Grade 1 = your ligament remains intact with only a few fibers partially torn. Symptoms are minimal and you are able to bear weight with only mild pain.

Grade 2 = your ligament is still intact but a larger percentage of fibers are torn. Symptoms include more significant pain and swelling, as well as instability with cutting or pivoting movements.

Grade 3 = your tendon is completely torn. Symptoms include severe pain, swelling, and bruising. Instability and stiffness are very common.

MCL Tear

a level 3 MCL sprain is a full tear

but it is just speculation that it was level 3

if the guy is walking around without crutches and is limp free after 2 weeks then it's probably not a grade 3 MCL tear.
