OT: Chad Pennington out for season

Another Michigan Quarterback in the AFC East who was passed over by other QBs drafted before him and starting because of an injury to the starting QB.....Hmmmm Sounds Familiar

That sucks for Miami. Kind of sucks for us too because I think we would have swept them even with Chad and he would have taken at least 1 from the Jets. Now I bet Jets sweep them.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him sign on with the Pats as the vet back-up if he doesn't land a starting job next year.

Chad seems to win a few too many vs NE... his absence should make beating Miami much simpler... though Williams-Brown duo a threat.

I am not surprised by their 0-3 start, even with Chad.

Funny, I recall some of the Jets fans here predicting with complete confidence that Pennington would not make it halfway through the season, as he has had a pattern of alternating good seasons with injury-filled seasons. I just wrote it off as coincidence, but perhaps there is something to their theory.

When Parcells signed Pennington he said it was only a stopgap solution. I guess the Henne era starts a year earlier than expected - unless they go wildcat full time.

Poor Chad. He's in line to extend his reccord streak of every-other-year Comeback Player of the Year awards. Hope he got a bunch of guaranteed money from Miami. Slightly tougher genetics and he'd really make a mark in the league.

At least we should not hear from loudmouth Joey Porter bragging about his team and how good they are this year.

Put Chad in the Arena Football League where the field is shorter and he is a guaranteed HOFer :D

I wouldn't put it past him to come back, but this is like his 3rd or 4th major shoulder injury. You just have to wonder if anything will be left in that noodle arm of his.

Love his accuracy and with good protection, he's a dangerous QB. Plus he's not a douche-bag.

Sorry to hear it. You always want to beat a team at its best, not with a major injury.

And Pennington always seemed like the underdog (touch passer without the rocket arm from a small school), so it's a shame to see him out for the season. And his career opportunities may be running out at this point.

One word: Tebow

This sucks for Pennington. I hope he can recover enough to continue football if that's what he wishes.

While you hate to see someone gets hurt but this could be good for them in the long run. I've always like Chad Henne. I think he has the potential to be a very good quarterback. Should be interesting to see how they do for the rest of this year.

Sucks for Penny but it is probably the best thing for the Fins. Henne is the future and that future was starting next year regardless. With the Fins season over before October, now Henne can take his lumps without fear of wrecking the season and start fresh next year with some good experience. I actually like Henne's upside more than Sanchez, so I see this as a potential negative for the Pats in 2010.

I feel bad for the guy. In a lot of ways, he is to me what is right about the NFL. I hope this is not the end of the road for him.

I'm really sad for Penny. Never could hate the guy even though he played for enemy x 2. Hope he is able to give it another go somewhere next year.
