the colts, ravens, steelers, chargers, and jets r the ones who worry me a bit in the afc...we r capable of beating all of them obviously...giants, saints, and vikings in the nfc...if we hook up we r goin to the superbowl or afc championship, if not we dont, simple as that...i would say the vikings, colts, giants, saints, and ravens worry me the most...

superbowl
pats/colts/ravens vs. giants/saints

I'm thinking about the Ravens. One game at a time, my friend.

Re: Colts look good

obviously, just pointing towards the possible very realistic future..ravens probably present the most problems for us offensively with the way flacco has been throwing out of play action...defensively the jets, steelers, and giants scare me a little

I've never been sure why posters say this. Why are you looking at it one game at a time? Do you not want to be distracted when you step out onto the field against the Ravens this weekend? We as fans are more than capable of looking at the team and analyzing who they will face down the road without having it hinder the Pats. You can do it too unless you actually play for BB and Co., which I highly doubt.

As for the Colts, they don't worry me. They have many holes that can be exploited and Arizona was simply not good enough to exploit them. Their defense is terrible (not sure how they got to the Super Bowl with it last year), they can't run the ball to save their lives, and Warner played right into what Indy does best and held onto the ball for way too long. When Arizona did get close to scoring, they made mistakes. I've long thought that Warner was and still is one of the most overrated quarterbacks in the league and last night further cemented that. On top of that, he made it too easy for Indy to get pressure on him by hopping forward into the pocket when there wasn't any traffic around him in the first place.

Indy can be had, the Ravens can be had, San Diego can be had, and the Jets damn sure can be had. Steelers are the best team of that bunch and I have no idea how they have gotten themselves to 1-2. But you just know that they will correct that at some point.

Re: Colts look good

Not sure how good the Colts look. Last night they were two stupid turnovers in the red zone, one being an interception in the endzone, from going down 17-3. Last week they were dominated by a now 0-3 Miami team who held onto the ball for more than 45 minutes but still manage to pull defeat out of the jaws of victory by allowing that 80 yard touchdown catch that sealed the win for the Colts.

Re: Colts look good

Colts sure looked good on offense.. Doesn't even look like they miss Harrison..

Arizona really shot themselves in the foot a couple of times in the red zone..

Re: Colts look good

The Colts are going to get killed going up against any team that actually commits to the run game and takes away the big play.

I wish I could say the Titans with CJ could do this but their DB's suck. If the Pats continue to improve their run game, that game against Indy shouldn't even be close. If the Jags had another viable RB on their team other than MJD (Fred Taylor perhaps) they would've beat the Colts.

That being said and looking at thier schedule... I see them winning the South again with a record around 13-3 or 12-4.

Miami committed to the run game and dominated the TOP, but couldn't take away the big play. Should be a useful game plan for when we face them. We'd better improve our red zone conversion, though.

Re: Colts look good

Just don't get why Warner tries to pass when his team have a 1st and Goal at the 1 foot line. Surely a run was the play. Instead he passed it and the INT cost his team any chance. It was like the end to the 1st half of the Superbowl all over again i.e. throwing away an easy 7 points. The Cards haven't won 10 games in a season since the 70's and unless they get some run going they will do well to be 500 this season because their defence is terrible.

Since the Colts have an awful run defense as their biggest weakness, they weren't exactly tested in facing the worse running team in the league. Then the Cards also gave away so many scoring chances.

The Colts offense has been impressive overall, to be sure, but Arizona is soft and overrated while Miami is in disarray. They have had an easy road so far.

I also think that Adam Vinatieri might be a free agent soon if he keeps it up. He is no longer automatic from 35-45 yards.

I would offer that the Colt's performance last night was more a reflection of their opponent's performance than anything special Peyton and the boys did.

They don't scare me anymore.

Not sure why they did that either. Put Beanie Wells in. I know he's had his fumble issues the past couple of games but if you can't trust him to run it in with less than a yard to go then what was the point of drafting him?

The poster probably should have included "commit to the run game and play defense". Miami's defense, specifically it's secondary, is awful.

its mostly in jest.

Defensive breakdowns by Arizona had a lot to do with Indy winning. Did you see the 73 yard pass to Donald Brown? I like Brown a lot, but he caught that dump off pass, and sprinted straight ahead for 70 yards. No defender anywhere near him.

Also, there was a very questionable referee call at the end of the first half. They didn't go to replay on what might have been a Arizona TD. The game would have been tied with Arizona's first 3rd qtr TD if they had counted the one at the end of the first half. That changed the complexion of the game.

Re: Colts look good

yeah, but i probably should contribute to the discussion more constructively once in a while.

You don't have to. You think I got to 6,000+ posts by being constructive in every single thread? No sir!

Colts always look good early. At home they're in a dome, on the road the weather is usually good. They slow down as the year goes on, and with the exception of that run in 2006 they're never as threatening late as they are in September.

Give Indy credit, they don't always win pretty but since midseason last year they've always seemed to find a way to win. Even though the game got out of hand last night, Arizona should have been up 10-0 before Hightower fumbled inside the 5. They just always find a way, except in the playoffs
