im 27 i was born and raised in CT i was 11 when the pats drafted drew bledsoe thats when a became a pats fan

GO PATS....

Just turned 40 this year, so it was a little painful to click the "40 - 50" bracket.

But I feel young! And I love fantasy football! And I'm totally up to date on this internet thingy! And... oh God. I'm in the 40-50 bracket.

I though that it would be interesting to do a little survey to see what kind of age demographics we have among posters.

This poll will not be a public poll so no one, including the mods, will be able to see how you answered. Naturally if you want to post your age so everyone can see than that is fine too.

Also, not to get into and war of the generations, I wonder if there are different expectations for the Patriots depending on your age.

I've been a fan since 1970 and although I now expect them to win every game when the game is played, I can remember hoping to win or having no expectations of a win was normal. I only hoped for one SB victory during my lifetime.

Do you understand there is more to demos than age?

useless poll.

53 years old. Been a fan since they drafted Plunkett. I've been through a lot of lean years. Living in California since 81. For years I would tell people that I was a Patriot fan and they would just look at me questioningly and ask "Why?" All I ever wanted was a team that would contend every year. I have really enjoyed the run that the Patriots have had the last decade or so. Going through the bad years really gives me an appreciation of what Kraft and BB has done with this team.

Thank you for the information. Yes, I am well aware of that even before you enlightened me. And this poll could very well be useless, or not.

We tend to forget that there are kids in the forum (the well under 20 forum). Probably wise not to include them as a separate category in the poll, but they are here and reading and learning from us old "wise" folk.

Yeah, I know I have learnt more from other users than I would have reading books and watching dvds. On here the history is far more personal.

Your poll will also skew a bit based on the age groups most likely to frequent an internet message board.

what does that mean?

well, statistically the poll is technically "useless" by definition since the responders are self-selected and anyone can say that they are any age they want to say they are (personally, I just turned 23--hint, check out my nick :D ).

but I think it's kind of interesting nonetheless, especially if you get a few hundred semi-honest responses from regular posters.

But, your question does allow someone who is "30" to align themselves either with the 20--30 or 30--40 crowds, similarly for folks who are 40 and 50. The data could wash, but it's more likely that you're a tad overstating the 20--30's and 30--40's as a result.

I've often thought why am I wasting time responding to an idiotic post, especially if the poster is some kid. I'd be curious to see what it would be like with the forum segregated by age group.

At 27 I'm old enough to remember the bad years of the early 90's but not really old enough to really vividly remember them. I do know that I was a huge Steve Grogan fan, and when I was in kindergarten I said I wanted to be the QB for the Pats for an art project and I got laughed at, but for the most part I've had the luxury of living in the Kraft era.

I do sort of worry abou tthe next generation becasue they won't have the grounding that I, and certainly my elders, had and all they'll know is success.

I don't think that any age group is immune from making "idiotic post(s)."

...

Just for a point of comparison, here's the demographic breakout of Massachusetts by age according to the 2000 census (if someone wants to add up all of New England, be my guest, but I think it's fair to say that the core of our fan base lives in Massachusetts).

Under 20: 26.4% (of which 6.5% is 15--19 and 6.8% is 10--14) [POLL as of 10AM: 11.6%] Comment: tough to evaluate.
20--29: 13.2% [POLL (closest band): 27.6%] Comment: way overrepresented.
30--39: 16.3% [POLL (closest band): 20.6%] Comment: overrepresented
40--49: 15.5% [POLL (closest band): 20.1%] Comment: overrepresented
50--59: 11.4% [POLL (closest band): 14.6%] Comment: overrepresented
60+: 17.5% [POLL: 6.0%] Comment: underrepresented

Well, I was born in Groton CT on the sub base there in 1980. That makes me 29 right now. I've been a Pats fan for 19 years (ever since I was 10), although honestly I don't remember much of the team from my earlier years in football fanship heh.

I turn 50 in November. Didn't vote in the poll because I didn't know if I belonged in the "40-50" or the "50-60" age group. :D

Been a Pats fan since the 1970s.

You belong in the 40's. NOW GET OUT AND VOTE!

23 in November,, You gotta think some ppl went to click on 60 for ****s.

I think it would be boring, there is a huge difference amongst the age groupings, often there are threads posted sans historical perspective... unfortunately youth is wasted on the young.
