Seahawks Insider - Mora: Mare’s missed kicks ‘unacceptable’ The News Tribune Blogs, Tacoma, WA

However, Mora saved his anger for kicker Olindo Mare, who connected on four of six field goals today, but missed wide left from 43 yards at the end of the first half. Mare also pushed a 34-yarder wide left that would have given Seattle a 16-14 lead midway through the third quarter.

There's no excuses for those. If you're a kicker in the National Football League you should make those kicks -- bottom line. End of story. Period. No excuses. No wind, doesn't matter. You've gotta makes those kicks.

Especially in a game like this, where you're kicking and fighting and scratching your tail off and you miss those kicks, it's not acceptable. Not acceptable. Absolutely not acceptable.

We're not going to fight our ass off, and have a field goal kicker go out there and miss two field goals and lose a game. It's not going to happen.

God damn pathetic of Mora.

partly true tho
olindo sux as of lately

More needs to (Please be quiet - edited) and do his job. It is HIS responsibility to make sure the team is ready every week. If he isn't satisfied with the players he has, cut them, trade them, do a better job drafting, whatever. What is the point of flipping out because you have a ****ty player on your team that you are relying upon? It's a reflection of the job he is doing. That would be like Belichick flipping out to the media about Galloway when he is the one who stuck with him.

Really inspires confidence. Mora is an idiot with no self control. I'm surprised somebody hired him.

He's as inspiring as his loser father. What does that kind of slam do to put your team in a healthy state of mind? Nothing. Just the opposite.
Get a new kicker or shut up.

I do have my own criticism of Mare.

"They pay us to do our job and that's part of my job," Mare said. "That's part of my job and I didn't do it very good."

That's "do it very well", Olindo. Why compound a bad situation with poor grammar?

I was about to defend him by saying he's from another country, but he was born in Florida.

At least his English is gooderer than his kicking.

And yeah, Mora is throwing him under the bus, but I'd be surprised if they didn't bring someone else in. It's obvious the coach isn't thrilled with the player.

he definately did not seem too happy with him.

I used to live in Florida....

'nuff said.

Pretty funny, actually, when you consider a FG attempt is a sign of a failed drive. Six FG attempts in a game indicates a problem much worse than a 66% kicker.

He shoulda just came out and said our kicker cant kick for diddly poo to paraphrase his old man.

Well, at least he didn't refer to him as "all liquored up..."

Mare should have returned the phrase by saying.

"There's no excuses for those. If you're a receiver in the National Football League you should make those catches -- bottom line. End of story. Period. No excuses. No wind, doesn't matter. You've gotta makes those catches.

I suppose if O. Mare was 6/6, Mora would have been singing his praises?

No... just looking for a scapegoat.

Yeah. Pretty ****bag maneuver but Mora. Hey Jim! Newsflash, buddy! Even if Mare had made that field goal, your team would have still lost by two.

6 field goal attempts in a game, you expect a miss. By the percentages. So Mora threw him under the bus for missing the 34 yarder.

He shouldn't have missed but that is no excuse for throwing him under the bus. If that happened to the pats BB would say something like "we all need to do a better job in all three phases of game, we need to do a better job coaching, playing offense, defense, and special teams".

What Mora did accomplished absolutely nothing positive.

He should've said, "When it really counted, the kicker did diddly poo."

I could imagine BB doing exactly the same thing if Ghost missed a game-winning FG.

Oh, wait. BB wouldn't do that. :)

Beat me to it.
If BB was HC of the SS, they would be trying for their fourth SB W in a decade...not us.

Obviously didn't fight hard enough otherwise he'd be kicking for one instead of three, wouldn't he? Look at yourself first and how you can correct the offense and what went wrong on drives. Thats what any coach worth their salt does.

Too easy to blame the stupid kicker though isn't it...

Can't blame him for feeling that way, but he's not helping his team with his comments. Bring it up with the kicker privately, or in a team meeting, or even replace him if that's what it takes, but don't go complaining to the media about your own player.
