I'll try for our first 2 picks, as I expect our #1 to be in the 28-32 range, and the #2 from Jacksonville to be in the 33-40 range, so not very far apart. For discussion purposes, I'm going to assume we pick at 32 and 36.

Of the players who I can see having a realisting chance of being available when we pick (not guaranteed, but not out of the question), I would pick:

1(32) Sean Weatherspoon, LB, Missouri. 6'2" 247# guy with 4.5 speed, great instincts, tenacious, always around the ball, good tackler, strong in coverage, and still pretty decent at taking on blockers. Basically a much better version of Guyton. Could play 3-4 ILB next to Mayo, or 4-3 WLB. Along with Mayo, Guyton, and McKenzie, would give us 4 young guys with very good 3-4/4-3 versatility.

2(36) Jonathan Dwyer, RB, Georgia Tech. 6'1" 230# pounder with surprisingly good speed. In the Corey Dillon mold. Would make a terrific long-term RB platooon with Maroney. Has had some minor injuries and problems this year, an RBs tend to fall, so he could slip to the early 2nd round.

Other players I would consider include Rolando McClain, Brandon Spikes, Derrick Morgan, and Leonard Marsh.

i dont think we will take mt. cody, bc i think wilfork will still be here and i think wilfork is faster and quicker than cody..i like the dwyer pick or possibly jahvid best but i dont think we need to draft a tailback that high..i truly think we need to repair our worn out line with an absolute stud...mclain heck ofa ilb but has a lil attitude i dont like...bit thuggy in my eyes, but so is meriweather and i like him

From what I can tell, theres a good chance Mount Cody lasts to the 20's. He's likely a 2 down run stuffer, and with Wilfork, Brace and Pryor (and I think we at least franchise Wilfork, and probably extend him) we've got plenty of beef on the DL.

Ulatowski is a nice pick at 64. Some think he's a bit soft, though, and our OL is already a bit soft. What do you think of OT Jason Fox from Miami?

I have no problem with McClain at 32, if he lasts that long.

Personally, I see 5 needs with 4 picks:

- ILB/MLB. This could be a SILB like McClain, or a hybrid kind of player like Weatherspoon (or even possibly Norwood). Good players, totally different styles. A lot depends on what BB is looking for. 6 months ago I would have picked McClain as a no-brainer. Now I'm not sure. I know you don't like Spikes, but he could certainly be in the mix as well.
- DE/OLB. Lots of interesting prospects - Kindle, Romeus, Morgan, Hughes, Sapp, Hardy, etc. I haven't seen enough of some of these guys to figure out who I like yet.
- 3-4 DE. Lots of interesting prospects. Suh and McCoy are out of reach, but Arthur Jones, Vince Oghobasse, Marvin Austin and Corey Wootten are all interesting prospects. I'm intrigued by 6'5" 305# junior Leonard Marsh from Florida, who has a lot of athleticism.
- OT. I see Vollmer taking over LT from Light next year. Vollmer/Kaczur/LeVoir are a solid group, but one more OT wouldn't hurt. Unless Brian Bulaga somehow slips (likely for medical reasons, which would make him a risk) I don't see spending a 1st rounder on this.
- RB. I'm in a minority here, but with Taylor, Morris and Faulk all aging, I think we need to reload. I'd like to see a Corey Dillon type to pair with Maroney, who I think we keep. Jonathan Dwyer is my favorite, Charles Scott is also an option. Jahvid Best is a nice all-purpose guy, but I would prefer a nice north-south guy to balance out our offense a bit.

I don't see DT as a need unless Wilfork leaves.

After that a RB ala Dillion would be nice. We could use a WR but not on the first day and NONE from Florida please.

Seeing that we will probably have a late first round pick next year, the two guys i would love to have, Taylor Mays and Suh will be long gone. I say we take another shot at RB with Jahvid Best. Watching him run, he reminds me of what LT was 4-5 yrs ago. He doesnt strike me as the dancer that Maroney is, he seems like hes gonna hit the hole and break some long runs.

i just happen to think that Suh is better. And yes i know we just drafted a safety last year but if this guy Mays has the atletisism similar to Sean Taylor, who wouldnt want that guy in our defensive backfield? I would love a guy that puts fear in the opposing receivers from coming across the middle.

He's only better in your eyes because he's from Oklahoma.

Suh is a beast, and a better fit if we still want to be a 3-4 team. Even if we go with the 4-3 full time, it's 50-50 between the two.

I don't see us drafting to fill the secondary in 2010. We have 8 solid guys on the roster (Meriweather, Sanders, Chung, McGowan; Butler, Springs, Wilhite, Wheatley), and possibly 9 if we can re-sign Bodden. We have too many other needs elsewhere.

Some of the players you mention just don't seem like good fits to me - Joe Pawalek and Sean Lee, for example.

Trent Williams should easily go in the 1st round. If he's available at 55, we (and anyone else) would be dumb not to take him.

Right now there are 3 guys who I really like:

1. DE/OLB Derrick Morgan, Georgia Tech. He reminds me of Jared Allen, who BB reportedly coveted. A 6'4" 270# beast at DE. He struggled playing OLB in space, but the elephant would be a completely different thing for him. Right now he stands apart to me from all of the other DE/OLB prospects.

2. LB Sean Weatherspoon, Missouri. He really wasn't on my radar much before this season because I viewed him as a pure 4-3 WLB, in the Keith Rivers mold. But he has impressive size (6'2" 246#), speed and versatility, and with us running more of a mixed 3-4/4-3 defense I could see that playing in. Neither Guyton nor McKenzie is a typical 3-4 ILB. Weatherspoon will be much better than either one, and would give us great positional depth and flexibility.

3. RB Jonathan Dwyer, Georgia Tech. A Corey Dillon/Fred Taylor kind of guy. Just what the doctor ordered. Sunday's game was a nice reminder of what a power running game can do for this team.

There's lots of other guys I like, but as of this point those 3 stand out. Brian Bulaga would probably be on that list as well (in fact, he would probably be at the top of it), except for medical issues and the likelihood that he will be long gone before we pick (unless the medical issues are a serious concern).

I watch quite a few USC games and Mays is a phenomenal athlete and a hard hitter but he lacks playmaking ability. He is rarely breaking up passes, forcing fumbles, or getting INT's. I think he's got like 4 INT and 1 FF in 3 plus years at SC.
When I first heard about him I thought he could be a hard hitting playmaking safety to replace Rodney, but the more I watch him I just see a physical specimen who doesn't have enough of an impact on the game. He can probably bring the same kind of physicality Rodney brought with hard hits and punishing WR, but he is nowhere near the playmaker/ballhawk Rodney was coming up with big picks and forcing fumbles.
He's also got poor tackling technique and tries to load up and go for the big hit rather than wrapping up. That's why a lot of people like Eric Berry as a better prospect at safety. Although he isn't as physically gifted or as big a hitter as Mays, the guy is always around the ball making game changing plays.

If you are looking at 4-3 DE's I would rank them:

1. Carlos Dunlap, Florida. Junior. 6'6", 270+ lbs. Has drawn comparisons to Julius Peppers and Mario Williams in terms of talent. Doesn't always play up to it.
2. Derrick Morgan, Georgia Tech. Junior. 6'4", 272 lbs. May challenge for the top spot before the season is over.
3. Greg Hardy, Mississippi. Senior. 6'5", 265+ lbs. Injury prone and inconsistent, but unstoppable when on.

Junior Everson Griffith from USC would also be on the list, and has a boatload of talent, but hasn't always played there.
