Just wondering how long y'all think it might take for TB to get back to where he was?

Being realistic it was always going to take a little while for him to get back into the correct rhythm and technique but being equally realistic if a 2004-2007 TB (or other class QB) is under center we win that game Sun. He missed some easy throws, didnt call plays well, and looked skittish/nervous in the pocket the whole game

Dont get me wrong, im still a ballwasher and willing to let him come back slowly, but i'm just wondering how long its going to take him to get off that rust and back towards where he was?

With this kind of thing there's no solid timetable. All we can do is look at Manning and the Colts last year as the closest possible parallel.. they went to 3-4 something before ripping off 8 or 9 straight after Manning returned from knee surgery, missing training camp.

This Sunday - honestly, pre-surgery Brady doesn't play THAT much better vs. the Jets than what we saw. The Jets had a good game plan, executed it well, and the Patriots made bonehead mistakes that rendered their game plan ineffective and put them in huge holes.

Sounds about right. I would expect some improvement this week, possibly a step back against the Ravens, and then some steady improvement up to the bye week. I would hope TB will be his old self by then.

He'll be back to his best by the London game.

Look at Carson Palmer.

In Palmer's first year back post-injury, he threw for 4000 yards, 28 TDs, and a 62% completion percentage. It was the second-best season of his career...

You think? I saw him miss a couple of throws I would have expected him to make (Galloway wide open Q1 and the end zone Q2) plus the Edelman throw Q2 and a fairly simple dump off to Maroney

What worried me more was how utterly skittish he was in the face of the blitz. The old Brady stands in there, shuffles a bit, buys a few seconds, steps into a throw and delivers. Sunday he was off his back foot and high, low, any which way. Just didnt look at all comfortable

I hear what you are saying but if Brady makes some throws, makes those line calls better and doesnt get all those delay penalties we win comfortably

I think with all the negativity thrown their way, that the Patriots offense will rise up and all do a good job this week. The O-line, the running backs, receivers and Brady are all going to play with a chip on their shoulder. Brady may not be 100% for a couple more weeks but I think everyone else will raise their game. They better because the Falcons have a good offense.

Indeed, TBH this is what has frustrated me most in that we have 3 very good RB's yet were still asking our QB coming back from injury to throw 50 passes a game

Its nuts - esp as when we did go to the run for 2 mins in the Jets game we were making yards from it - then we just abandoned it. Not sure who's calling those plays but someone needs to be making better decisions

What kind of worries me is that they are leaving up to Brady and I dont care who you are or what you've done, a QB is always going to favour his arm so you need some level of OC in there to balance it

If anyone could say with certainty they should quite their day job, they could make a killing being a consultant

Everyones different mentaly and physically, because of that you can't say. Just got to work hard and go with the flow for the most part, try to get that natural rhythm again.

I personaly don't think we'll see Tom Brady firing on all cylinders till next season. He'll need that lost year back to build on and then kick on from there.

The offense needs to PROTECT Brady right now. Enough of this shotgun, 3 wide formations. Go to an I formation, use 2-3TE, do what ever is necessary to give Brady ample time back there. Run the ball more... like... 50% of the time, more. Once Brady feels comfortable in the pocket, trusts his O-line again (if possible), and is making good reads, then you can go back to the 3-4 wide, single back, shotgun, empty back formations. They need to put Brady in the best spot to succeed right now.

boomer esiason made a great point about brady's shoulder might no be right. that combined with him getting used to the pocket might be a concern. i think most of what happened in the jet game is because the pats changing their offense due to O'Connell.

You are correct. Brady didn't throw the ball right even when he wasn't under pressure. He is not right. The pressure, I am convinced, had little to do with the offense's performance. The fact is that they never generated near the kind of pressure that, for example, the Giants did in SB42. It just wasn't the kind of pressure that disrupts a good QB. Brady, however, handled it not by hanging in the pocket, but by throwing while backpedaling, throwing flatfooted, and throwing earlier than, for example, the 2007 Brady would have thrown facing the same pressure.

The name of this thread says it all really. How easy people forget things.

Question for you all.

What Quarterback threw for the most yards in week 1?

In December I think this team is going to be pretty damn good no matter what our record says.
