I just don't get the Guyton hate. He's heads and shoulders better than Beisel on his best day.

Good article Bob ...

I think the Patriots are experiencing more pains in the coaching than they are in the players. I think the media is afraid to cover this topic so far.

I don't understand why people are down on Guyton either. I think he's got a lot of upside. With some more time, this guy could be really good. Paired up with Mayo, he could be a force.

Alexander, on the other hand...

Wow.I guess you watched an entirely different game than everyone else, BOB. The Jets offense STUNK in the 1st half. STUNK. How the heck can you say they played "a completely sound game of football?"

If you want to complain, lets start with Moss and Galloway dropping easy passes. I also believe that Brady had a legit beef about the Time clock. The back to back calls didn't have 24 seconds elapse..

Lets continue with the Refs not calling all the late hits on Brady. I counted no fewer than 5 that came at least 1 full second after he let the ball go. Yet no call. While last week, both sides got tagged ridiculously. Then lets move on to the holding. Its pretty sad when the Pats get called for it, yet the Jets are damn need pulling the jerseys off the Pats D-linemen and not getting called.

Brady wasn't or couldn't follow through like we normally expect. That goes to the O-line.

Did the Pats play a poor game on offense? Yep. Does it happen? Yep. But the defense did its job. And people are forgetting that. People are actually being overly critical of it and not giving any credit to the Jets, who do have some good players on offense. Leon Washington is a very young version of Kevin Faulk, only faster. Jericho Cotchery is a damn good WR. Chansi Stuckey is young up and coming player. And they've got a good O-line.

The Pats just did not execute on offense. There is a difference between not executing and being "AVERAGE". I'd think a guy who has been watching football as long as you have, BOB, would know the difference. Guess I learned something new today.

Brady did get pressured... a lot. But there were plenty of occasions where there wasn't anybody directly in front of him and he still didn't follow through. The O-Line didn't exactly light the world on fire with their play, but you can't really blame Brady's lack of a follow through 100% on them either. It is clear that Brady still has some mental issues that he needs to work out with his injury.

Heh. I have to find something that I want to put in there. I'll take a look at it tomorrow as I'm going to be shoving off for the night in a little bit.

I agree with your article Bob. It pains me to say that the Pats look like the've finally come back to the rest of the pack. They are not even close to being the elite team most of us expected them to be. At least not yet. But lets not throw the season away just yet. Hopefully they will get steadily better and still challenge for the sb this year.

The Patriots are still a question mark because they have played only 2 games. I agree that their elite status is in question but again it is only 2 games. The Patriots are more likley to play better than worse as the season goes on (given the history).

Regarding the game, the Jets had approx 109 total yards of offense combining their 1st, 2nd and 4th quarters. The Pats gave up one long pass play and that hurt. On the offensive side of the ball, the Patriots are not converting red zone opportunities. They didn't do it very well against Buff and they were awful against NYJ. THAT is the biggest concern right now. We convert just 1 Red Zone opportunity against the Jets and maybe we win. We convert a decent percentage against Buff and we win much easier. With that said, give the Jets credit especially their defense. They played well and that, imho, was the difference in the game.
Articles like this are a bit premature......

That's an understatement.

Maybe we've fallen back to the pack. Maybe we're just shaking off the combination of injuries, rust, and new personnel, and are ready to take off. No one knows. 2 games is not an adequate sample size, particularly with this team's history of responding to adversity.

Very good and fair article... cant say enough that has already been said, move on to Atlanta..

I think if Brady had been in sync we win this game. Maybe i'm exagerating but it looked to me like about 75% of his passes were of the poor variety.

I have to say that gut on Rexy looks abnormal for someone his age. It looks like he swallowed a beach ball.

- Please remove "Patriot Nation" for your writing bag of tricks. Write about the game and the team. Leave the vague, easy references of fans to other writers.

"+ Ridiculous" is a good choice for those frustrating 3rd down converstions. They drive me crazy.

- The Monty Beisel reference was weak and cheap. If you want to be taken seriously, raise yourself above the level of an internet poster. (note the irony)

- A Bledsoe reference? See above.

- Did you really write that "The Jets are taking off"?

It's the second game of the season. Are the histrionics really all you have to report about the game? That's less than ordinary.

I don't think you're exaggerating, I think you are correct. If Brady plays a game that was more to the higher side of his past performances, I think we likely win this game. The question is why was Brady's performance not at that level? Was it simply very good Jets defensive play and/or good pass rush? Was it just a bad game by Brady and/or continued rust from his missed year? Was it poor play calling or poor scheming/coaching? A thorough breakdown would be nice to see. I can't say this with absolute certainty but I think some passes were there that were not taken advantage of by Brady. But to take away from the Jets is bad form. The Jets deserve credit. BB was laughably terse but utterly correct in the post game PC. The Jets made more plays and that is why they won. Historically the Patriots have been the ones making more plays. Hopefully next week we make more plays......

Last year, the Colts started off 1-2 and 3-4 before ripping off 9 straight to finish 12-4. In those first 3 games, for example, here were Peyton Manning's stats:

30-49 (61.2%), 257 yds, 1 td, 0 int, 81.8 rating
26-42 (61.9%), 311 yds, 1 td, 2 int, 72.6 rating
15-29 (51.7%), 216 yds, 1 td, 2 int, 59.0 rating

He went on to win the MVP last year.

Through 2 games, here are Brady's stats:

39-53 (73.6%), 378 yds, 2 td, 1 int, 97.8 rating
23-47 (48.9%), 216 yds, 0 td, 1 int (don't have his rating, but it wasn't good)

I think he and the Pats will both be ok.
