Seems like Brady is calling his own plays out there. Seems like he's given the packages of players and he goes from there. Looks like it's taking an extra second or 2 for him to scan the players going into the huddle so he knows his options from there.

Of course he calls audibles and changes the plays at the line but I get the sense that they are working on a new system here where he calls the plays. He has called more audibles as he has progressed in his career but I think he's taken over now. I think it's Charlies/Josh's offense that Tom and O'Brien have tweaked so Tom can call the shots now.

Opinions???

I hope not cause we need to run more.

you failed to see the two #'s they hold up?

Re: Is Brady Calling His Own Plays?

THe last two drives against Buffalo were the only scores this year.Doesn't the qb call the plays during the two minute drive?

Tom has called lots of audibles in recent years. It seems to me he is calling the entire game now ... not just audibles and 2 minute drills.

Re: Is Brady Calling His Own Plays?

Well, in the past we could count on the OC or at least argue with the game plan and plays of the OC. We don't seem to have an offensive strategy, game play or halftime adjustments.

I know I am overstating a venting, but we were seriously outcoached and I miss having competent coaching leadership for the offense.

I hope not, if he is. He needs to stop making the running plays and other stuff so obvious!

On the sideline he's looking at the pictures with O'Brien. He's talking to the receivers and O-Line. It seems like he's taking extra time seeing who he has in the huddle. In years past he was more animated between plays. Now it seems like he's working on something ... other than no obvious OC it looks different. Also ... this seems more like Weis's offense than Josh's offense. Just an observation more than an analysis on my part.

Why would the Pats add that pressure to Brady? He had not played a full game in 18 months .(before the last 2 games)makes no since.

I saw the 2 numbers.

I believe Brady is calling his own plays.

Enough run the effin ball Bill.

Hard to see on TV ... so perhaps our members at the game next week can check it out?

I saw those signs with numbers they were holding up.

Am I missing something or is this a little simplistic? I mean if I see 68 being held up and later in the game I see 68 again, wouldn't I know what play is coming?

I wrote this in another thread -

Last week I can understand Brady airing it out. Not today. They should have committed to the run. They had the time and the score on both sides was condusive to keep a balanced offensive approach.

For a few years now, probably since Weis left, the power structure that shapes the offensive philosophy has come from quarterbacks coaches (Josh McD, and now the current play caller, whose name I cannot recall). What they are best at is designing plays for Tom. Randy's arrival furthered that approach. (In fact, I was not surprised that Tom lost his season last year catering to the joint needs of Randy's and his. They got greedy once too often).

The team has to get back to a balanced offensive approach. They have competent backs. You cannot run for two or three yards on first down, pass for an incompletion on second down and then be forced to pass on third downs. But this is what has been happening very often lately. We have been punting quite a lot lately. If we are going to punt anyway, might as well get into that situation with 50% or more ground game.

I doubt it because he would do a better job.

its possible brady is changing the play and calling a pass...you never know whats happening.yes they shouldve run more today. the jets dressed only 4 DT's i think..and have accumulated RB's like jon gruden does with QB's

I'm going to go out on a limb and say those two fancy numbers are likely a counterintelligence measure of some sort. It could be deception or an attempt to circumvent the headset, owing to mistrust of the Jets. The former is more likely in my opinion.

LOL

If BB believed running the ball more was the best approach, believe me they would. We carry 3 TE and 5 RB for no other reason I can fathom. Yet it doesn't work so Brady must be calling passing plays to pad his stats...

In another thread someone wondered why other teams have a TE their QB can count on as an outlet. Ours are primarily assistant OLineman for a reason... And still that isn't enough. But it must be Brady calling the plays... What ever else could it be...

i dont think brady is calling he's own plays

all that BS brady dose at the line talking and pointing

is the same thing payton dose trying to make the D think they are calling a new play when all they are doing is telling the OL to watch there but

teams know it thats why that dose not work for brady and payton any more

I was trying to be a little sarcastic. If Brady was comfortable, if he was in sync this week and last i don't think the play calling would be questioned..........Wait i take that last part back.

He's been calling plays for years now.
It actually seems less-lately.
