He's not Wes Welker yet. But NFL.com has Brady throwing to him 15(!) times—17 times, counting penalties (one of which was a completion for 10, one an incomplete)—which says to me that Edelman's at least made significant strides.

yup, we have two very good slot wr's......now we need to find another one to complement moss on the other side....

Brandon Tate, maybe? :)

Decent game, but he needs to learn how to line up properly... Moss had to save him repeatedly, telling him to get on/off the line. He's definitely a project, though, and he does have a high ceiling...

haha, i saw that too. edelman's fun to watch tho, good cuts, but sometimes the jitters showed

Is it time to activate Nunn from the practice squad? :D Edelman did great and i think Nunn would be great on the otherside of moss when welker is out!

The drop close to the goalline in the second quarter when he turned upfield too quickly was a killer... looked like a TD. Other than that, for my first time actually watching him play, I think he will have a major impact on this team - even when Welker is in the lineup.

Forgot about Nunn. At the rate Galloway's going, that's not an impossibility. . . . even if Tate can be activated later this year.

BTW, apparently this pass:

2-15-NYJ 41 (13:42) (No Huddle, Shotgun) 12-T.Brady pass short middle to 11-J.Edelman to NYJ 12 for 29 yards (36-J.Leonhard).

put Brady into second place in pass yardage among all Pats QBs.

B+

I'm not ready to put him in Canton yet. But for a 7th rounder who was playing QB last year I'm very, very happy.

id rather have nunn

edelman was ok but hes no welker, not even close

nunn is a better instinctive receiver and probably has the best hands ive seen

For a guy who was a QB last year, it's still darn good.

I suspect Nunn will get his chance, but it won't be at Edelman's expense.

For being a rookie QB turned WR? A-/B+

Overall? B/B-

you guys glorify Welker way too much.

put a #83 on Edelman's chest, and you wouldn't know the difference. ya, he dropped a few, but so did Welker on MNF.

Pass some of that **** over here.

Welker: 12 of 16 (and, in general, WW catches >70% of the throws on which he's the target)
Edelman: 8 of 16 (as SMY points out the Scott penalty was after the fact, so it still counts as a throw)

Welker is also an outstanding blocker in the run/YAC game.

His ability to make plays in a small area is key. If he can work the slot and incorporate a wrinkle or 2 being a ex QB he will provide a much needed backup to Welker. Welker takes alot of big hits and he is a small guy, that wont last long. But if he can come back and can take some snaps in Galloway's role that could cause fits for the D. Seeing Kelly Washington get about 60 yards and a TD today makes me wonder if Aiken shouldnt get some time there as well.

But that's the thing: if you go back and look, WW doesn't take nearly as many big hits as it looks like he does. Not none, but certainly not on every play.
