I wonder where some of you rank this '2nd week Super Bowl' or if its among the top 5 most hyped games in Patriots history?

My picks for top hyped games are....

1) Super Bowl XXLII - How can you beat the hype that an 18-0 team was part of?

2) AFCCG - NE at Miami in 1986 - How NE could never beat Miami in the Orange Bowl was all I heard from for 2 weeks straight that year, but Tony Eason and Ray Berry found a way to end that streak.

3) NE at Jets 2009 - I put this weeks game third most because of the EXCESSIVE trash talking going on,This week 2 game should never make this list but there is far too much arrogance on the Jets side to omit it from the top 5.

4) NE at Pittsburgh regular season 2004 - The Patriots and Steelers were to clash and NE was riding high on a 21 game winning streak while the Steelers were dominating all competition before this game,It turned out to be a great game but Big Ben as a rookie played well enough to end the streak.

5) NE at Indy regular season 2007 - Both teams were the cream of the crop going into this game and both undefeated,This was definately the talk of the week.....Peyton vs. Brady - Undefeated vs. Undefeated - It doesn't get much better than that.

What your opinion on top 5 hyped games and where does this weeks game rank if at all??

Pats @ Cowboys, Pats @ Colts, and Pats @ Giants (all from '07) were much more hyped than this Superbowl we're playing tomorrow.

Going a few years back, the last regular season game at Foxboro Stadium, against the Dolphins in 2001, basically decided who won the division. That game was hyped.

EDIT: I don't think playoff games should count as they are obviously a bigger deal than regular season games.

I think #2 you mean 1986 AFCCC- not 1996.

Excluding playoff & SB games...

5. Tuna Bowl 1
4. Pats @ Miami 1986 MNF. (They win...they win the division.)
3. Pats- Colts 2004 MNF Season Opener
2 Pats- Steelers 2002 MNF- Opening of Gillette & hanging of Sb 36 banner.
1. Pats- Giants 2007- Going for 16-0.

NE/Pitt 2004 wasn't hyped that much.

True on the hype. But a great game? Only if you happened to be a Steelers fan. The Pats were never in that game. No Dillon, Brady flat, just plain ugly.

The Conference championship, on the other hand, was a great game. And that got some pretty good hype after the Halloween beatdown.

Great game? That was the infamous halloween night fiasco. Brady had 5 interceptions. Pretty ugly.

Most Steeler games were way overhyped... 2007 was ridiculous (but Brady to Moss to Brady to Gaffney cleared the air). The 2004 games (reg & AFCCG) were hyped as well. Pitt sure likes them some Pitt.

Well,Maybe not the actual gameplay but the excitement of the streak and meeting an elite opponent was exciting...yeah,the game really sucked on the scoreboard for sure

Those hyped games with Pitt will be nothing if NE and Pitt would meet in this years AFCCG

Can you imagine this game determined by the media and others of who wins is the team of the decade?

I think the Pats Colts playoff game I think it was in 03? when the pats shut down manning and ty law had 3 picks i think

This game is historically overhyped on the Jest side. From our standpoint its only another division game. Ive heard NO ONE from the Pats speak word one this week to hype.

No, I can't imagine - as years go by, and the NFL becomes more and more "an event", it would be nothing short of WILD on all fronts if NE & Pitt meet in the AFCCG. Insane.

colts@pats in both the playoff games has to be there somewhere. esp the 2004 one with pats losing all dbs and manning was supposed to come in and win.

The 16-0 game was ALMOST more hyped than the super bowl -- remember when the game was ONLY going to be televised on NFL network and people were FREAKING the f out??? It got so intense, that the Senate was drafting a bill to force NFLN to open the broadcast to networks (something they eventually volunteered to do under massive media pressure).

The game lived up to the hype too, I watched it from the 7th row in seats that my wife bought -- best Christmas present I've ever gotten.

1. The Game that Shall Not Be Named
2. Pats @ Giants (Regular Season Finale 2007)
3. Jets @ Pats 2007 (Spygate Fallout)
4. Bills @ Pats 2005 (Tedy's first game back)
5. 2004 AFC Championship (@ Steelers)

NSPF... if that fine lady lives anywhere NEAR Nova Scotia, you should forward the exit #...

Brady only threw 2 interceptions in that game. He's actually never thrown 5 in one game. Just thought I'd clear that up.
