Bear with me as this is not a baseball thread. The recent Sox/Angels series in Boston featured some controversy surrounding intimidation of the umpires. First the Angels suggested the umps gave Boston all the calls in critical situations because they were afraid of the fans at Fenway. Later it was the officials pointing the finger at the Angels coaching staff for intimidating them as they made their way through the Anaheim clubhouse after the game.

We already know that Rex Ryan is whipping the Jests fans into a frenzy for Sunday's game. We also know these are the same fans that have cheered an injury to one of their own players (Chad Pennington) and practiced mob mentality intimidation and harrassment of fellow (female) fans.

Secondly, the Jets players are sounding like heels selling their match on some WWE pay-per-view. The talk is of not merely beating the Pats but rather, embarrassing them, and using blunt force trauma, etc. The players and coaches are calling this game their Superbowl and are overly confident and expecting of a win. Emotions will be running high.

Finally, Rex is Buddy Ryan's son. Buddy, you remember, routinely denigrated other coaches during games and even assaulted his offensivve coordinator on the sidlines (right hook to the jaw of Kevin Gilbride) in a game back in 1994. They say the apple never falls far from the tree.

All of this has me wondering if maybe BB should be concerned for his personal safety down in the Meadowlands this weekend?

What if the Pats go down and lay a beatdown of Biblical proportions on the hopes and aspirations of the Jets, their fans, and the NY media as many of us fully expect they will? Could Rex Ryan respond by turning on BB after the post game handshake and attempting to powerbomb him right there at the fifty yard line?

NO...But rexy does look like a stroke or a heart attack waiting to happen

The only time that fat slob Ryan would be dangerous is a hot dog eating contest!

I don't know, but if the Jets get embarrassed and Belichick goes in for the handshake w/ his rings on and say's "Kiss 'em, *****", then he might go into fight mode.

Ryan wrestle ? I think he'd have to know Sumo wrestling wouldn't he ?

It looks like the only things he's ever wrestled with were supersized and he won every time.

I would friggin love it if the Patriots ripped the Jets a new one and then Belichick went in to shake Ryans hands with fingers covered in Superbowl rings.

That would be FANTASTIC!!!!!:D:D:D

Ryan will attempt to hit Belichick with a steel chair, but Belichick will duck and then perform the stone cold stunner on Ryan

It would take Rex Ryan five minutes to wind up a punch. So no.

Gisele wrapping a big chain around his neck?...

Yeah baby!! Somebody call her people and lets make this a pay per view! I'm sure Rex is game as long as there's a bag of donuts involved. :D

What kind of a dumb statement is that?
