Just a rumour so far, but i didn't make it up, so that's something...

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/09/18/kris-jenkins-out-for-sunday/

Said anchor Chris McKendry on SportsCenter, "John Clayton [is] reporting that the Jets also [are] healthy heading into Sunday's game against the Patriots. [The] only out today [was] nose tackle Kris Jenkins, unable to play with a back injury."

We don't know whether this means that Jenkins only missed practice today, or whether it means that he won't play on Sunday.

Either way, McKendry was way too nonchalant about it, given the importance of Jenkins to the Jets defense.

Or is this a last minute mind-game?

He'll play.

He'll have to be walking on a fried drumstick to miss this game. It is their Super Bowl after all.

It was reported earlier in the week that he had limited participation so I wouldn't be suprised if he missed some practice time. However, I don't think he will be missing this weeks Superbowl.

Oh man, someone should get a lombardi fake from a trophy store and

A) Hoist it mid-field if (when) we win.

B) Present it to Jenkins/Tubby in space-time screws up and we lose.

Both would be hilarious endings to this week.

He'll play but I'd be shocked if he was up to his usual level of performance.

My guess is that he will play, but he may not be effective especially if his back is still bothering him. Personally, I am shocked that Jenkins is injured. The guy is never injured.

That is why I said that Jets fans cannot count on Jenkins for 16 games. The guy has poor conditioning and at his age cannot be counted on playing for a full season. If he was a well conditioned guy without his injury history, I wouldn't say that. But Jenkins has had injury and conditioning problems throughout his career.

No way this guy lasts the entire season, back problems don't just magically go away. At his size and the demand of the position he plays his back is only going to get worse.

Maybe the guys doubling on him will stand him up a couple of times and rattle those screaming nerves.

God, I hope our team comes out in the no-huddle, hurry-up offense and runs this guy (and the rest of the Jets defense) right off the field in exhaustion. Don't you think this would be the best game plan, particularly if Jenkins is already hurting?

Definitely.

BTW, Apparently Ryan had a PC and said Jenkins was limited but is in for Sunday.

I'm sure if somebody is around his back, or he feels pressure there, he's not going to step into his rush. Any nose tackle can be rattled. He's one of the best, don't get me wrong. That's evident. Any nose tackle, Vince Wilfork, even if you get in his back, if you rattle the nose tackle, you get pressure on the nose tackle, any nose tackle it is, he's not going to be the same. Nobody.

Or so I've heard.

no why he will miss this game he had the bigest mouth of them all hurt or not that would be a joke if he dose not play

joey porter has the bigest mouth in the NFL but he backs it up most of the time cause if he's team dose not win he will at lest put up big numbers

Jenkins missed practice because he was stuck in the doorway of his local McDonalds and they had to call the Jaws Of Life to grease him out - By the time he got out practice was over,he is fine ....This is a true story ;)

Are you sure it was Jenkins and not Tubby Wrecks?

He's scared of our OL.

Yeah. He's scared that he might blow through them too easily, trip over Koppen's body, and twist his ankle.

Either way, this is good news. Back problems on a 300+ pound NT tend to make them a lot less effective. God knows that Dan Koppen is going to need all the help he can get. On top of that, Ryan's blitz packages more or less depend on Jenkins swallowing the center of an offensive line. The less effective he is, the more time Brady is going to get to make a throw.

Given how this board is media savy...I am a bit shocked that no one has reported what the NYT Bishop said...that Jenkins was injured playing with his kids..an dit's only minor. I know the truth..is a lot less important here..but..Jenkins will play..not at all a big deal.

Yes... we all... assumed... he... would... play... this weekend.
