I didn't see Baker anywhere on the field monday night - Is he injured or did BB want Watson to get the reps that he missed most of the offseason?

I don't know if Baker's career with the Jets and the information he has on their defense would help the team any since it is a much different team but it can't hurt I suppose.

I think we need his blocking skills to protect brady against what I expect to see Safeties and Corner blitzes and I can also see the Patriots utilizing both TEs this sunday, possibly both on the field at the same time in certain formations.

Like I said we need extra blocking this week - I remember on Monday when Maroney tried a putrid horrid block on Mitchell almost killing Brady - its got to improve, the Jets are 10x better than the Bills on defense

Baker put in a solid game, he had a couple crunching blocks.

O.K. Dont remember him out there,Did he catch any balls?

May have caught one.. you can confirm by looking at the excellent game breakdowns that Box does. (NE @ Bills Game 1 breakdown thread)

I doubt he has much info he never played under Rex Ryan and maginia is in in Cleveland now. Off the top of my head he may have caught one or was targeted once I cannot recall.

Baker was in on 46 of the Pats' 81 offensive snaps.

In terms of formations the Pats went with no tight ends just once, one TE 50 times, and two or three TE sets 30 times.

Baker had one catch for 7 yards. That was the only ball thrown his way.

Baker is this team's #2 tight end. I'm sure he'll be able to help against a blitzing team like the Jets.

He has nice soft hands, good blocker just no speed. A good target in the red zone. I was honestly sad to see him go but after the contract problems last year there was no way he was going to sign with us.

with a defense like the Jets that want to blitz all day, I think we'll see more passes to both the tight ends.

Baker strikes me as a player who will have a different role every week depending on the game plan. I was excited in the off-season when the Pats signed. I know it's only been one game so far, but in my opinion, he's the best all-around tight end we have had since Graham left.
