Just dawned on me.

Is there any possible way this is a ruse? I mean, it was two "sources" who relayed the news, and the Globe to boot. Mayo is not listed as out on the injury report yet.

Not saying Mayo doesn't have a sore knee, but maybe it is not as debilitating as the Pats want the Jets to think.

Nah, Ryan isn't stupid enough to fall for that....is he?

I think Mayo will miss at least a month maybe more, hope I am wrong though.

I hope you are correct. That would be quite a story line.:)

But I think not.

well, you never know, but i doubt it. Keep in mind, there's been plenty of times (AD) that we knew someone was going on IR, and it would be a week, or two before BB would actually put them on there. Maybe he's gonna list Mayo as 'questionable' for a month. Who knows

The problem with that is then you waste a roster spot on a guy who you know is done for the year.

The "mind games" benefit there, at best, barely justifies the cost.

In fact, if anything, the Pats are more likely to put someone on there prematurely—i.e., to IR someone who might be available later in the season—than to hold someone off the list for a while. [In AD's case, I think they were waiting to see what was going to happen, or simply didn't see a roster move worth making.]

I don't want to see a guy of Mayo's stature play with a 1 week old with a MCL sprain.

When is the latest a player can be listed as "out" on the injury report? I would see him as being a gameday inactive.

Players aren't listed as Out, Doubtful, Questionable or Probable until Friday. Right now it just says how much they practiced and Mayo didn't practice. If he doesn't practice at all during the week it is most likely that he is out. I think it is a real safe bet that he won't play this week and probably for the next couple of months. If he comes back sooner then we can all be pleasantly suprised.

I doubt that that is the case. BB may be secretive about injuries, but he's never flat out lied about them.

The Pats reported exactly what they were suppose to report on yesterday's (Weds.) Injury report. The Weds. report calls for teams only to disclose practice participation. (Mayo was rpeorted as Did not Practice (DNP)). I'm sure that on Friday's report he will be listed as "out". I'm hoping that Mayo will only be out a week or 2. But if you look at the Pats schedule, they could really use him the next 3 weeks (NYJ, ATL, ABL) after that I expect the Pats to beat Denver Tennessee, and tampa (in London) which is followed by the bye week, that would seem to be the best time to bring Mayo back, that would give him 8 weeks off, save him the trip to the UK (long plane flights and hurt legs do not go well together).

I agree, I think what's happened is that some are confusing the Pats with the latest news coming out of NY concerning hiding injuries ;-)

Exactly! Nor a month old. Or two months. I want them to hold him out until he is FULLY ready to go, but teams are stupid that way and he will be sent back in before he is ready and play at 70%.

More a fantasy scenario than anything else...He'll be out for awhile... I really doubt an MCL sprain is recoverable in a week....as was said they are not listed as out till Friday...he did not practice will not today..
Am surprised no move has been made..but??? maybe limited options..

I think they should rest him as long as it takes. 2 months, 3 months, whatever.

No point in reinjuring it or shortening his career.

How does an MCL heal if it's torn? If it's torn, don't you need surgery to put it back on?
