After watching how easily Fred Jackson was able to turn the corner on us Monday Night, I shutter at the thought of what Washington will do.

Our front seven will have trouble sealing off the edge all season, and those quick little scat backs have been an issue for us the last few seasons. No Mayo, No Sey, I think we are in some serious trouble this week against the run. Washington is as dynamic as there is in the league when he gets the ball in space or bounces to the outside. Im expecting to see lots of nicle and dime packages because we simply dont have the speed to contain him up front.

Our O-line better get their act together quick (YEAH THAT MEANS YOU TODD LIGHT!)... because I have a feeling we are gonna need to put up at least 30 to get past the Boogers. I hate to say it... but I have a hard time picturing any offense hanging 30 on them if they play the way they did against Houston last week.

Yes... I am officially Panicking. :Bag-Over-Head:

its possible. but the pats were also conciously avoiding the big play with TO,evans and reed. with the jets their priorities might change.

this has already been posted....but why not repeat it since some people missed it.....

Fred doing as good as he did was in part of two things, the defense we had....our attention was completely on evans and TO, they were the ones we chose to stop...and we did stop them

because of our defense, with safeties far back and our cb's givning 12 yd cushins at the LOS, screens and sweeps were extremely effective

now add in the fact that our main guy got hurt on the 7th play, and it explains alot...

next week the focus will be to stop the run, and that we will do....the thing is, will the jets have as much success passing, as the bills had yesterday running?

i doubt it

Pats do seem like the underdog in this one

15 carries for 57 yards is not doing 'good'.
Its now reached the point where fans are afraid of what allowing 57 yards and less than 4 a carry will mean to our impending doom. Oh brother:eek:

Way too much panic in the streets..Sheesh!

Good thread. Thanks for sharing.

Everybody needs a really big calm down.. or maybe we should not watch the game on Sunday, and just read about it on Monday.

If they try screens this team will get pounded and pounded hard - Both Jones and Washington will kill the front 7,unless BB comes up with a plan to stop it - it could get ugly and frankly I am a little worried.

The Pats won't have to pay nearly as much attention to the Jets' wideouts. They can have some combination of Guyton/Meriweather deal w/ Washington. Guyton did a good job on him last year.

Belichick was on EEI yesterday and basically said they were giving up the short stuff b/c they didn't want TO/Evans to beat them. I'm guessing this week the focus will be on stopping Keller/Washington & the middle of the field will be shored up by bringing Meriweather up.

Jets will run screens until they Pats prove that they can stop them.

OK, you have convinced me. The Bills gained yards on screens and that means that the fatal flaw of our team has been exposed. We will never be able to stop a screen, and will never win another game.
Finally, our WIN has proven to me that the dynasty is over. We won so badly that we can't possibly expect to beat a team that was 9-7 last year, fired their coach, have a rookie QB. Rex Ryan has a 1.000 winning percentage. I can only hope the game doesnt come down to coaching because our guy clearly proved to us last week he has lost it, and is incompetant.
All these years our defense really sucked, but the statistics and wins were smoke and mirrors. On top of that Richard Seymour was the whole defense, and we are the worst defense in the NFL without him.
I expect the Jets to win the next 15 SBs, how could I not after the way they dismantled those incredible Texans last week. And I'm looking forward to 2012 when we can maybe have rebuilt our entire roster and maybe win a game.
Wow, I feel better. I'm just going to keep repeating....we suck, we suck, we suck....then I'll feel wonderful

Now there's the over sensitive sarcastic homerism that I've come to expect from patrsfans!! :D

No. Our gameplan is stopping the run this week. Jackson had a big game because BB said we are going to stop TO/Evans and see if Jackson can beat us. This week if anybody is going to scorch us it will have to be Sanchez. Good luck Dirty

Huh?

At one point, it seemed to be common knowledge that a Belichek defense is geared to ID the opponents best weapon, nuetralize, then make the other team win with second/third threats.

This was the same dude who said if Thurman Thomas gets 100 yards, the Giants win the Super Bowl.

Some perspective:

Giving up 17 points and less than 300 yards of offense is indicative of a stout defense. I hate to break the news, but opponents will get yardsage/first downs/hell, the will even score.

15 carries and 57 yards sucks by NFL standards. Sorry to break the news but that's reality. If you want to worry, worry about Edwards going 2 carries for 25 yards. I didn't realize he had that in his game. However, it looks like Sanchez could.

A team whose offensive strength is the two wide receivers will most likely be defended by a gameplan that is a lil different than for a team that has the strength in running and the tide end.

Perhaps that's why Robert Kraft pays BB millions.

Umm isn't our young inexperienced D faster than last season? I thought they did a good job of getting to the edge to stop the RB. Unlike in 2002 where LDT ran wild and exposed the D in week 2. I think the near loss will have the players paying attention this week. I don't think the Pats can play any worse and the Jests could not play any better. The performances this week will be somewhere in between.

Can't the Pats play 7 in the box and rely on our new secondary to cover the Jests wideouts 1on1? Are they any better than TO and Evans?

If Sanchez can beat the Pats with his arm then great for him.

Belichick joked about how many screens the Jets would be drawing up. They'll break their good ones but we'll be looking for them and will make Sanchez go downfield somewhat to beat us.

LOL. I'm going to be so conflicted this Sunday. My TE on my FF team is Dustin Keller, I have the Jets defense, and now that LT is probably out I'm going to have to play Leon Washinton... :(

Wait.....Do you mean it's actually accpetable to allow a few 1st downs and a TD every now and then?

Only major issue I had w/ was ave yds per play for both running and receiving and the red zone D. I think Buffalo was 2-2. However, Pats plan was to play a lot of nickel and dime and ensure that TO and Reed didn't kill 'em. That strategy made them suseptible to the run, screens and underneath stuff. Losing mayo hurt. Guyton is still learning...There is hope!!:D
