Here's the tweet from Reiss from the conference call with BB today.

"Clearing up the confusion: Belichick said he doesn't think the injury to Mayo is season-ending. No further details after that."

At this point I'll take "out for awhile" over IR and out for the season.

How is this good news, ok he probably isnt going to IR but how is Mayo missing any time nothing but bad news

How bad could it be if he walked off the field on his own?

It's good news BECAUSE THE HEAD COACH OF THE TEAM doesn't think he will have to go on IR.

It's good news in the context of last night when the player went to the locker room last night with a knee injury and didn't return.

At this point, ANYTHING pointing to the best player on the defense not being out for the season is good news. Period.

Didn't Brady walk off the field under his own power last year after the hit?

He walked off with a little assistance.....

I understand and agree the best player of the defense not going to IR is good news, but I cant justify him missing only six weeks as good news. Good news to me would be him being able to suit up next week, not him being out only 6 weeks or not being placed on IR.

That's fine. It's just a different perspective and I'm not disagreeing with you. Is it great he could miss 2-6 weeks? Of course not. But since that appears to be the hand we've been dealt, I'll take it and move on (gratefully) with at the very least the hope he'll be back and healthy at some point in the near future with a ton of the games left to play.

Does anyone get the feeling that BB is using this as a typical BB mindf**k ... let the Jets think he is not playing ... and then he shows up?

Yeah, if he ends up missing 2-6 weeks than injuries happen lets move on; anybody will take that over a season ending injury. Injuries suck in general lets just hope for the best and see what happens.

Yup -posssible. We'll know a whole lot more tomorrow.

That would be awesome, I doubt he is present at the beginning of practice tomorrow for the media portion, maybe he sneaks in afterward who knows.
