Jets treating game like 'Super Bowl'

"Think the Jets, fresh off of their 24-7 rout of the Texans, are amped up about making their next bold statement -- Sunday at 1 p.m. against the Patriots in their home opener at Giants Stadium?

"We're going to be playing this game like it's the Super Bowl," nose tackle Kris Jenkins said yesterday."

If I recall correctly (SB 38), for Kris Jenkins, that means allowing Brady and the Pats to put up 38 points?

I think it means Jenkins is going to eat 6 plates of nachos and a pot of chili before the game.

So they're going to stay home and watch the game on their televisions?

That's fine. The Patriots will treat the Super Bowl like the Super Bowl.

Or he plans to be totally dominated all game by Russ Hochstein? Anyone think McDaniels will lend him out next Sunday so Hochstein can hand Jenkins his lunch?

Try and block him one on one. Please.

That shows how smart the Jets really are. Get so pumped up to treat a week 2 game like the Super Bowl so if you lose that means your season is over............dumb@$$e$. They are getting so high that if they lose their world will come crashing down on them and their inferiorority complex will be two fold.

By the sounds of the Jets fans on their board, this will be an easy win for them....that's okay, let them think

I don't see that at all. I know most Jet fans I know think this is going to be an incredibly tough game as it always is with the Pats.

I agree treating early games like the Super Bowl is very dangerous for a number of reasons:

1.) The NFL is very much about peaking at the right time. The Jets are putting so much emphasis on these early games and playing very agressive that they could peak by midseason. With Jenkins and his conditioning issues (even he last year admitted he tired out by December), that may not be a good thing.
2.) What if the Jets treat this like the Super Bowl and lose and lose by a couple of TDs? What would that do for their psyche?
3.) What if they win and have a letdown the next game or two?

That is why Belichick always preaches one game at a time and no game is bigger than the other. It obviously works for the Patriots. There are plenty of examples of teams who shoot their load too early in the season and have great starts and horrible finishes.

Naturally they are; they haven't been to one in 40 years, so go ahead and shoot your load in week two.

And if they win the game, wonderful; two whole games into the season and you are in first place in the AFC East.

Do they get one of those silver trophies with the football on top of it for that, enlighten me.

And please Jets fans, let's not have a week of talking out of your asses on this forum, we've been down this road before.

Take 8-3 at one point last year and ....................., well, you know how this one ended.

This kind of reminds me of Dallas in 2007 who was certain they were going to derail the Patriots in the middle of the season only to lose at home while Brady and Welker had a field day and T.O. was left to choke on his freaking popcorn

Kris jenkins hungry

we are coming for you brady

we will show again sunday why the Jets are still our *****. They will continue to be a joke.

Pats wont play as bad as they did last night. Brady will throw all day on fatass Rex's defense

It's good to see Kris Jenkins healthy...this year. Wonder how long it will last?

Can we start Vollmer please? He looked good (albeit in very limited time last night).

Just curious....was a flag thrown for a personal foul / late hit on Jenkins there? Because he takes two more steps after the ball was thrown to deliver the hit on Schaub. I'm just wondering b/c the Pats got called for two pretty awful roughing the passer penalties and I'm curious if Jenkins got called for that.

No he didn't.. go figure.

Also this is not going to happen again.. I see us going to no huddle, and you know Brady will be getting rid of the ball much faster than Schaub.. so we'll see Jenkins's assets work against himself. He'll be gassed by halftime.
