and those who wore them in the Early years of the 70s,80s,90s? (not all the players but in terms of whole team)

1) Talent
2) Determination to pull out a win - An 11 point deficit in the 4th qu. by the early teams was a certain defeat
3) More heart and desire than any of those teams had
and most of all...

4) Tom 'never say die' Brady.....god bless us for having #12 once again pull out a win from a near certain loss

(P.S. A special thanks goes to Leodis McKelvin and his refusal to take the knee in the end zone or put both hands on the ball on the runback :))

I don't know, there were some gritty guys back then: Grogan, Hamilton, Morgan, Jackson, Hannah, Hasselbeck, Nelson, Tippett, Tatupu, Cunningham, Fox.

Maybe the color red is just jinxed for football uniforms. At least as far as teh patsies are concerned anyway. Although don't the cardinals play in red? Maybe that proves my point.

I'd say the difference is the coach on the sidelines.

Like I said,I was raised watching HOFers like Tippett,Hannah and Haynes but when referring to not giving it all it is as a total TEAM effort.

I remember vividly well in the lean years where the team had chances to win some games but just seemed to give up too soon and lost games they could have won even those years where talent was minimal - This team of today NEVER imagines defeat until the clock says 0:00 and thats where the magic of the Belichick/Brady connection comes in

The teams back then were cursed somehow...I remember teh 2-14 year, I think they were ahead in one of the last games when the opposing threw a hail mary to win it...I remember Nelson slamming the receiver to the ground in the endzone...just frustration all around. The next year Ken Sims was supposed to rescue the franchise...that turned into a bust.

Grogan was a gritty, tough guy but he always seemed to throw the pick to end the game. It was tough.

I don't know about the differences, but that was one thing I took away from the game. The fans had become sort of listless and resigned (although few left), but the players were still motioning the crowd to get involved and they still looked like they thought they were going to win, even when all seemed lost. Keving Faulk, Laurence Maroney and Brandon Merriwether stand out in this regard. The Pats players willed themselves to a win last night (when in the bad old days, the Pats probably would have lost), and I thought that was GREAT, no matter what the problems were during the game. They never conceded that the game was lost, and for that reason, they WON.

From the stands: the throwback uniforms look stodgy, slow and less than imposing. I think they're especially hard to look at under the lights. With some of the stupid things happening, they were just too reminiscent of the sloppy, bumbling Pats of old. I'll be glad when this throwback hoopla is over.

I said to my friend when Buffalo scored its last touchdown, "That's the game." But, I've never left a game early (like some fools did last night) and never will. The McKelvin fumble was a gift from the football gods. And I am so happy to see Watson have some success -- here's hoping he finally becomes the game-changing force we all anticipated when he was drafted.
