Good point, I loved it when Law ran back that pass from Kurt Warner.. that was awesome.

I almost forgot the near stroke moment I had when Maroney totally whiffed on a blitz pickup. That was the most chicken sh&%%^t thing I have seen in a while. Give Maroney is 10 touches but on money downs leave it to Faulk.
Why is it when Maroney has a couple of good runs it is all him and when he gets stuffed it is the O-Line? Why was he the short yardage back? What were they thinking!
He played average and is average. Liked his K.O. in the opening.
He got booed because he was doing his normal deal.
I am not sold and the much smaller Faulk is the better inside runner. Go figure.
Why is it LM can have a great 7 yard run and get stuffed for a 3 yard loss the next play in every game after game after game. It's not just a one time thing. Am I wrong but does he lack vision? Is he so inconsistent that he cannot take the job away from three other well aged backs.
He has his lovers on this site. That is fine. I am not sold nor do I trust him to carry a team on his back like Dillon.
If there is anybody on this site who says when it is third and three they would prefer to have Maroney carry the ball, speak now and tell me why.
Who would you want back there...Taylor, Faulk or Maroney?
Some have said he was a beast in this game....what?
He is infuriating!

Laurence Maroney did as good a job as he could've tonight. I know this may invite a lot of B.S. about him "dancing behind the line," but the fact of the matter is, there was massive penetration every time he did. I Thought he played, overall, a whale of a game, given the limited opportunities. Hope they continue to get him out in space and keep him back there for kick returns.

Okay, shoot me.

I am sure that he will make the most out of his role. And yeah the pass blocking is awful.

Is there anything left to say?

I'm sure Belichick is very happy to have Maroney. After all, it is likely he could have traded him. After all, that would have given more reps to Morris and Green-Ellis.

On a related note, does anyone know why he only returned one kickoff? Were they lining him and Faulk up and the Bills were kicking away from him? He looked good on that opening, I was surprised he didn't return a kick the rest of the game.

Maroney certainly has issues, but much of the O-line blame for his failings is attributed to the fact Maroney had the bulk of his carries at the beginning of the season last year when he got hurt (and Brady got hurt as well) when the O-line was playing like crap and the running game was faltering. Somehow everyone jumped on the Green-Ellis wagon last year while criticizing Maroney and calling for his release instead of giving some credit to the O-line stepping up. Bellichick must see something you don't as I didn't see much of Green-Ellis last night. And last night, Brady was not exactly untouched (he got thrashed by two defensive linemen simultaneously on at least one occasion), so there may be some merit to the O-line not performing up to par.

And I think the world of Kevin Faulk, but do you honestly believe you put him in on a play that is a high probability run and he will not take a loss last night? Put Maroney in on a spread pass formation and I expect his yards per carry go up significantly. Maroney is likely not as quick or as good a receiver as Faulk, so not a great choice for that role, but Faulk does benefit from the formation. Maroney runs into the teeth of a run defense, not a pass defense.
