yeah dude, seymour is dominating this game, I miss him so much ::sob::

Re: seymour is a best

Looks like Mayo is hurt. We could really use him now.

Re: seymour is a best

no question he has had a moster game tonight.....btw anyone see that call on rivers? the chargers talk more **** than anyone in the nfl yet they have never won anything. too bad they dont play as well as they talk

Re: seymour is a best

Yeah, we could use Seymour this season. Jarvis Green had a tough time tonight.

Re: seymour is a best

Seymour's an animal. I don't care what anyone says, I'd rather have gone all-in for another ring this year than have a 1st round pick a couple years from now.

Totally agree.

I was quite upset when I first heard we traded Seymour. I mean who cares if he's going to try to break the bank after this year. We need him now.

First round draft picks come every year; Super bowls trophies do not.

It's not that simple, don't let your emotions get the best of you! A high first round draft pick in a likely rookie-capped pool is more valuable than 1 year of a all-pro d-line man. It's 5+ years of a top 15 type talent, had cheap vs 1 year of Seymour. Sure, I'd love to have him for this year, but I also want this Dynasty to continue. These are the types of moves that sustain success. You don't mortgage your future for now in the NFL.

Many people disagree with the comparative weight you give to each side of the trade. As I've pointed out numerous times, the team will have had 8 seconds and 2 firsts in 3 years even without the trade, which should be enough to 'continue' the Dynasty. On the other hand, weakening the team this season certainly isn't going to help the 2009 team secure the team's first Super Bowl victory since 2004.

No, but it will significantly help the team from 2011 on. Yes, we have other draft picks, but lets be realistic, we would be looking at the bottom of the first. We now have our own 1st plus what should be a high first pick. Just think of it this way, what would be more important? 1 year of Seymour or 5+ years of a younger version of a "Seymour" with a capped rookie contract?

If that 1 year of 5 time Pro-Bowl player Seymour got us a SB trophy, I would much rather that, then taking a gamble on some rookies.

First off, the assumption by so many that the pick will result in a "Seymour" is more than a bit of a reach. In all the years Belichick's been drafting for New England, he's drafted 2 HOF level players. Seymour's one of them and the other one was drafted in the 6th round. Expecting that the 2011 pick will somehow be guaranteed to reach that height is just crazy.

Second, I'll take the help with this year and a 3rd round pick in 2011 over the 2001 1st round pick, thanks. Brady's 32, not 22, and the team hasn't won the Super Bowl, even with his greatness, since 2004. That's not much in the grand scheme, but it's a long time in the sense of a QB's career.

Re: seymour is a best

I have backed Seymour since day 1, and honestly still think I'd rather have him over Wilfork any day. I realize this is a very unpopular statement on this board, but I feel like having the best 3-4 DE in the league is better than having a top 5 NT. He can play every down vs. Wilfork's 2, is way more athletic, and can and has played all 3 DL positions.

I believe Wilfork benefited from Sey's presence, and will not be as good as he had been with Seymour around. I am quite surprised still by this trade, and am questioning Belichick to some extent, although I admit I am probably wrong in doing so. I am tired of hearing how we were going to lose him anyway, because that didn't have to be that way. We probably could've kept him for around the same cap hit, and made up Wilfork's difference with Vrabel and Bruschi's cap hit. Then again, I have to find a way to get over it, and move on because he isn't helping us anymore--it still is somewhat of a shock however.

And with all of our day one picks next year and the year after we will improve our team in the long run--but it may have cost us this year for sure. I don't blame anyone for still wanting him around. OTOH, Green is a formidible DE, and hopefully the presence of Brace/Pryor can help things. The defense should of had 6 sacks tonight, and were getting used to not having Mayo in there, so I don't think they'll be as bad as they looked at times. All said, they still held the Bills to 17 pts allowed on D, and less than 300 yards total. The secondary looked better than I expected--at least for now.

i agree brady at the very best has maybe 5 more good years of football left and moss maybe 3

you just cant keep tradeing your best players and leting them go in FA and replace them with rookies and over the hill players and thik you will win SB is just wont happen

just ask marino how hard it is to win a SB he's window of opportunity to win a SB opened and closed fast

thats because you aren't held accountable for your decisions. Every fan is short sited

1 game into a 16 game regular season. If Seymour puts up a stinker against the Chiefs and Wilfork plays a monster against the Jets, the comments will be reversed next week.. it's the fickle nature of the mob.

I won't disagree I wasn't sad to see Seymour go as he's a monster and will leave a gaping hole, but I've seen enough over the last 10 years to trust Belichick's and Kraft's judgement on the whole.

Will this impact the 2009 team drastically? Probably. Will it be fatal? I don't know.

I agree with the nature of the mob, etc--and I agree that we should always trust Belichick. But I also think it's going to be a season long topic, only time will tell if they can move past this latest challenge replacing him. My big question/problem is I think they're keeping the wrong guy out of the 2 of them, that also will be played out in time. (of course they haven't even kept him yet either, so we'll see with that topic too)

I do think there were some positives tonight on D, especially considering the probable scramble/change in scheme when Mayo left. I am proud of our defense so far, and look forward to seeing some improvements next week.

of course seymours a beast this year.. its a contract year

It seems to have worked for BB in the past...just sayin ;)

Let's see how he does all year before we judge. Seymour played on emotions last night. Let's see if he can continue that intensity all year long.
