But here is what I do know. Mayo was in “good spirits” at halftime, according to one teammate. The player told me Mayo seemed, “OK.” Later, Mayo was asked by another teammate how he’s doing.

“He said, ‘It’s nothing serious,‘ ” a player told me, recounting his conversation with Mayo.

Does this mean Mayo is fine? No. But this is what he was telling people…

The forecast for BB press conferences this week is cloudy with a chance of heavy subterfuge.

Someone get hold of Steve Austin's doctor.

I'm assuming out for the year and I will be happily surprised if it's otherwise.

yea, well, lets hope its something very NOT serious

Let us hope so...Mayo means so much for this defense...Man what about Merriweather play tonite...He is just a beast we need for this team....GO PATS!!!!!

I'm going to take the cautiously optimistic route:

If he were severely injured, I'm guessing BB wouldn't have even allowed him to talk to anyone, much the same way that you couldn't find Gostkowski with a GPS device and a grizzly bear in the week before his first playoff game against the Colts.

There goes Todd Light running his mouth to reporters again.

im guessing sprained or strained ligament, hyperextension..definitely not a torn ligament tho from the looks of it..

injury is "nothing serious can meen a lot of things

it can meen hey guys i wont lose my legs but im done for the year........ i hope not

it can all so meen good news guys i dont need surgery but im out 6 to 8 weeks again i hope not

we will see if he dose not play VS the jets he will miss a lot of time

Re: Rapoport: Mayo in good spirits, tells teammate it's "nothing serious"

Maybe my lip reading needs work, but did anyone else see BB spout "Damn", in one of the camera closeups, when he saw Mayo was injured? I think Patriots Nation was collectively thinking that as well. :)

Yeah i saw it too. he must've thought the same thing as we all did: knee injury to one of our key players in the first quarter of the first game. We gotta give alot of credit to our defense, which stepped up big time. Meriweather great, corners didn't give up many big plays and at the end of the game we seemed to create some pressure. We still need Mayo though, so i'm hoping he's back soon.

I'm an optimist typically, but if he's out for the year our chances of winning the SB are zero% unless Steve Nelson comes walking through that door.

let's hope so...Mayo is now surely a top player in our defense
