Schefter sent out tweets about 10 min ago. Oakland and Seymour are finalizing the plans for Seymour to be in Oakland Saturday or Sunday. Seymour would be available for the game Monday against the Chargers. Seymour did NOT get a contract extension and the Raiders refused to guarantee that they wouldn't Franchise Seymour next season.

So is this good or bad

Looks like this drama will finally end soon. Thank goodness. We can finally focus on the Pats and the season opener.

VERY GOOD..................... even better in March of 2011. ;)

Re: Seymour to Report on Saturday.. Ready for Monday's game????

How can he play on a defense when he knows none of their playbook or calls...or names. One of his more astute future teamates was mulling this a couple of days ago...

Well the letter must have gotten his attention. Either that or Rodney told him to man up.

Re: Seymour to Report on Saturday.. Ready for Monday's game????

Boring, anti-climactic ending. He should have held out. It would have been much more interesting to follow.

I hadn't even thought about Oakland franchising Seymour. Two years as a Raider is a lot tougher to endure than just one.

Sorry about that Richard, my condolences.

A defensive linemen has very simple responsibilities. Defend the A gap or the B gap, etc... His teammates can easily explain whenever a stunt or other type of play call is in place. He's a veteran, there isn't too much he hasn't done before.

You're starting to sound like a mediot...all they ever really care about is the storyline...

If he just goes ahead and plays mg may have to be medicated.

The good thing about the franchise tag is that it will be a very high number for him. He can skip the first part of the season, come in just in time to gain his year of service and sign that tender, play about 6 games for a whole lot of money, and then rinse, lather, repeat.

Why would I not want to see an interesting storyline that's never played out before under this CBA?

Hold the horses:

Reiss, a few minutes ago:

Union files grievance for Seymour - The Boston Globe

"The Richard Seymour saga has a new twist.

The NFL Players Association filed a grievance on behalf of Seymour yesterday, according to a source familiar with the union’s thinking. The grievance claims that the Oakland Raiders were not within their rights to send him a “five-day letter,’’ which noted he could be suspended for the season if he doesn’t report to the team by Tuesday.....

......Seymour has not spoken publicly since the trade, but the grievance appears to be a strong indication that he does not want to play for the Raiders."

Now that's mighty interesting.

Schefter versus Reiss.

DE was $8.99M this season. He probably will qualify for the 120%. Unfortunately 6/17ths of that isn't nearly what he anticipated in a long term deal. That's probably why he'd be the first guy to actually do that in decades.

Then of course there is the looming lockout year...

Not sure the lockout year is a factor. Doesn't it automatically roll over?

It's Oakland. That changes everything.

There's no guarantee that a franchise tag will even be in existence after a lockout.
