Brett Farve played too, what's your point.

Do you not understand your hypocrisy? Farve played the last 5 games but was not listed on the injury report when he should have been. Maroney was the same deal.

I am a Pats fan but hate sounding like a mindless fanboy, which is why I don't completely disagree with you, but I also don't completely agree.

In fairness to the Pats, they put him on the report for week 3, he didn't play, he rested in week 4. It's quite possible they felt it wasn't an issue by week 5, but realized it was after the game so they IR'd him.

That being said, it's likely they knew and tried to slip it by for a week, but it is strange they would put him on the report and then remove him. Usually they'd do something in reverse and try to get by as long as possible before putting him on the list.

Favre otoh was playing week to week, clearly injured, and it wasn't on the report. I don't really think the two situations are very similar tbh.

Point being Belichick has done this for years, the Maroney case is just one of many. From Parcells to Belichick to Mangini and now McDaniels, they all feel the need to hide these injuries for whatever reason.

To me it's silly and it hurts the players (Maroney had a legit beef)... The league should start taking away draft picks so it will eventually end, $10,000 is nothing to an NFL franchise.

Yea, i'm not defending BB completely, I know he's notorious for not being honest with his injury report.

However, i'm not sure it's that big of a deal, is it? I mean isn't the list there mostly for vegas?

From Parcells to Belichick to Mangini and now McDaniels..... and let's not forget Cowher, Dungy, and Shanahan and about every coach in the league. So many teams have had shady dealings with the

I do agree it hurts players and when I mean players I mean the players in the casinos in Vegas and illegal sports gambling. How was Maroney hurt by this? I do agree by excluding him from the injury report didn't give the opposing team the heads up not to hit him in the shoulder. Because that happened.

The injury report was instituted for sports gambling. Plain and simple. Taking away draft pick for cheating the injury report would do away with the draft because most teams cheat the report. It has no bearing on anything in terms on how a team prepares for a game.

Your proposal is great though. If they start taking away draft picks for injury report ommissions, it will be a matter of weeks before every team has 53 players on their injury report every day.

My proposal is if a team gets caught cheating on an injury report, they are banned from issuing an injury report the following week. That will teach them.

Maroney stinks in my eyes but the reputation of a player can take a big hit when playing injured and that was point about Maroney.

Farve for instance was getting skewered by fans and media for his late season collapse, if they knew about the injury they wouldn't have had any ammunition to kill the guy.

First, even if the Pats didn't ommit him from the injury list, they wouldn't have disclosed he had a broken bone in his shoulder.

Second, they never give details about injured players even if they are on IR.

Third, nowhere in the NFL rulebook does it say the Pats had to disclose that he had a broken bone in his shoulder. All they have to disclose is whether he practiced or not, where his injury is located, and the likelihood of him playing in the game.

Fourth, Maroney was IRed a week later. So, it was clear his injury was pretty severe since there was still 2/3 of a season left when they did.

Fifth, now that it has been disclosed that he had a significant injury and that it was in fact a broken bone, perceptions about Maroney hasn't changed. His haters still say he is made of glass and dogs it. How exactly was he hurt.

Sixth, perceptions of Favre hasn't changed now either that his injury has been disclosed. How was he hurt?

I have certainly changed my opinion of Farve. He had the Jets at 8-3 and was playing very well, then all of sudden the guy goes Vinny Testeverde and starts throwing 3 picks a game. If I knew his shoulder was busted I would have understood.

And then there's always the case of worsening an injury, that never helps a player.

How does that help the team win games? What teams are making personell decisions based on the fans and media's perception of them?

And if Mangini obeyed the rules, all you would have known is that Favre was probable or doubtful with an arm injury. You wouldn't have known he had a torn rotator cuff or whatever he had.

How exactly would putting Favre on the injury report prevent himfrom getting injured worse? That makes no sense. If anything it could increase the chance of injury because players will hit an injured player in the injured area at times to distract them (note I didn't say they take cheap shots at the player). Aren't you and your fellow Jets fans saying that players are gonna go for Brady's knee?

So just do whatever it is to help win games regardless if it's against the rules?

I guess in NE that mindset is par for the course but it doesn't mean it's right.

I guess in NE that mindset is for the course but it doesn't mean it's right.

Apparently it is the mindset in New York too.

And I would have known he had an issue with his throwing arm.

Putting a name on an injury report doesn't prevent any injury from worsening, that wasn't the point.

Again, MARONEY DID NOT MISS PRACTICE THAT WEEK.

Point out the specific rule that was broken. No rule was violated by not putting Maroney on the report, since he fully participated in practice.
