Says from a reliable source and wilfork knows that.

old news. This was on comcast sports new england 3 days ago.

re: Felger:Wilfork Was Talked About with Raiders first

I like Felger, I have to say that first, but he is so anti Patriots right now that his "source" is meaningless to me and could be that Raider radio guy who was summarized here a few days ago.

Again, I like Felger and I agree with some of what he's been saying about the Seymour situation. But he's been way over the top especially on TV a couple of days ago when the best he would say about Gostkowski is "he's a nice little kicker".

re: Felger:Wilfork Was Talked About with Raiders first

Do not like Felger one bit.. he thrives on being the resident contrarian..

re: Felger:Wilfork Was Talked About with Raiders first

I like Felger more than most (he's entertaining, if nothing else) and I think this is probably true. One of my first thoughts when the trade happened was "why not Wilfork?" It seemed like for both sides, a Wilfork trade would've made more sense (presuming the Raiders actually intend to sign the player long term, which apparently, they didn't think that far ahead).

Personally, I'd rather have one year of Seymour than one year of Wilfork, and I guess the Raiders felt the same way or the price was too high.

Given the amount of things he has been wrong about, I don't lend a lot of credence to that report.

It was mentioned somewhere on Sunday. It's obvious the Raiders wanted a run stuffer. Therefore, Vince would be the logical discussion.

Is this more evidence for the 4-3?

re: Felger:Wilfork Was Talked About with Raiders first

i have no way of knowing whether the report is true, but if it is, IMO, the Pats lucked out and got a better deal!

We don't know what sources anyone have. Felger may be negative on the air, but most of the guys in the media seem to like him personally. If that is a case, that means he could still have maintained relationships with players and staff over at the Pats. Even Borges still has connections at the Patriots.

I have no idea if his source is legit or not, but it doesn't mean that Felger doesn't have sources within the Patriots. He did cover the team for nearly a decade and even when he went negative it wasn't like everyone in the organization turned their backs on him. Most of the people with the Pats know the game with the media.

If sports teams shut off media people who are critical of their organization, no media people in this town would have access to the Red Sox, Celtics, or Bruins. The Pats are the only team in this town that have outright homers in the media in this town.

I really think people think there is far too much personal beefs between the teams in the media.

Belichick must really like Ron Brace.

no.......not since they have brace on the bench

I don't buy it mostly because it doesn't make sense........wilforks franchise number is 7M......he's guaranteed to be here 2 years.......he's also younger

re: Felger:Wilfork Was Talked About with Raiders first

I hate to admit this, but when 98.5 first hit the airwaves, I gave it a shot. I've since reverted back to EEI for some programs. Reasons.

Morning- Just don't like the other guys.I tried..Vote: EEI

Afternoon- Ok with Dale & Holley. Ok with Tang & Zo: Vote indifferent

Drive Time: Felger is driving me nuts. I like Mazz's writing MUCH more than his talking. Big Show is a shout down, but I'm used to them. Vote: EEI

After Hours: Really like DA. Vote: 98.5

re: Felger:Wilfork Was Talked About with Raiders first

BTW, Felger said that he didn't say that the Pats offered Wilfork. He said that Wilfork's camp believes that he was part of the conversation in trades and he said it could have been the Raiders are the one who brought it up and if the Pats were seriously looking to move him that they would have rather wanted him because of age and production. Felger said he doesn't know if the Pats were ever seriously considering moving Wilfork, but his name was part of the discussion.

Based on what Felger is saying, it sounds like his source is Wilfork or his agent.

re: Felger:Wilfork Was Talked About with Raiders first

Felger is now saying:"MAYBE,the raiders asked for Wilfork, first,I don't know".

Him and Mazz are like two schoolgirls texting after dance class.

If anything, this could help Wilfork. In one way, it infers that he could be viewed as more valuable than a future 1st round.

Likewise, it could also mean he's less valuable to a non 3-4 team.

The "game changer" would be if the Pats called the Raiders.

EEI is at least trying, cleaned up those long twice hourly breaks and made them into 90 seconds.. that is a welcome change, also this week they spent beaucoup time on the Patriots... some of it was silly, but better than listeining to crap about arm slots and the like.

re: Felger:Wilfork Was Talked About with Raiders first

My understanding was just the opposite. raiders initially contacted the Pats about Wilfork, but the Pats didnt want to trade him, but they would trade Seymour

I know - all I was really saying is that based on how Felgie has been recently I don't trust him despite my not being a Felgie Hater usually.

I changed the thread title, in that case (from "was offered to" to "was talked about with")

Already heard this. To my knowledge the Raiders decided not to switch to a 3-4. I guess Al Davis just figured, what the heck, all these Patriots deals have worked out so well for us in the past, I'll just take Seymour instead, even though he doesn't fit into our system, doesn't want to play here, and definitely isn't worth a first rounder.
