Has anybody heard anything about Welker? I haven't seen any update on his "undisclosed" injury. Naturally, I hope he plays this week, but does anyone know his status?

I haven't heard anything substantial but I can't believe it's anything serious. After all, they released Greg Lewis and sent Terrence Nunn to the practice squad. If Welker was going to be out for any extended period of time, I'd would think the Pats would have added an extra receiver (or two).

When the Patriots practice more will be known as to his status..so in a few days more will be known..but it seems he will be ready..but really..who knows..

That's a good point. Here's their current WR crop (if Welker can't go):

- Randy Moss
- Joey Galloway
- Julian Edelman (rookie...former college QB)
- Sam Aiken (special teams guy)
- Robert Ortiz (rookie - did he make the team or go to the PS or get cut?)
- Matt Slater (special teams guy...hurt his arm in the last preseason game and might not play for a couple of weeks)

That's not an inspiring list. Hard to believe they'd open the season with just two legit NFL wide receivers (Edelman looks great, but he's not ready for prime time just yet).

If Lewis was released, then Welker must be fine. You can't go into a game with 4 recievers. Unless someone at the wr position is coming in. If thst is the case then I will worry about Welker.

I don't think many people know what he has... but this logic is not necessarily the one to follow. Truth is, the probably feel they can beat the Bills with a bit less at the WR position. What do they really need to beat Buffalo ? Not the full arsenal.

We'll know much more in less than a week ! Wooooooo !

You CAN go in THIS game with 4... seriously... Does anyone think they can't beat this team with Galloway & Moss with Aiken as #3 and Edelman as slot ? They could go Watson & Baker all game and still win.

With all the roster moves this past week you must have missed the press conference when Belichick said that Welker had suffered a grade three contusion to the subscapularis muscle and a grade two contusion to the infraspinatus muscle on his right arm. He has been receiving acupuncture as well as more traditional treatments twice daily. Although this has resulted in not being able to practice with the team on passing drills he has continued with cardio workouts in order to keep his legs and overall conditioning where they need to be. In addition he has participated in all the team's off-field activities, such as film study for the Bills game. Belichick said Welker is 'day to day' and in reference to the injury, said 'it is what it is' - also noting that he won't make a decision regarding Welker's playing status until Monday night and that he'll 'just play the players that can play, and the ones that can't play won't play'.

Once a groin always a groin ... that thing will heal when he retires is my guess.

Welker was fully dressed for the final preseason game and will start on Monday. Case closed.

As determined earlier in the thread, the fact that he dressed means absolutely nothing due to NFL rules regarding all players to dress in the last preseason game.

I hope that you are correct in your prediction, and I would certainly hope he can go, but my guess is that we'll not know too much until at least this weekend, if not Monday night.

He practiced today, so...

Great news, JSn. I was posting at the same time as you, or would've deleted the previous post. At any rate, thanks for the good news.

Here's the list of "not present" guys courtesy of My Crease:

S Matthew Slater (left arm)
WR Julian Edelman
CB Terrence Wheatley
OL Rich Ohrnberger
OL Dan Connolly
TE Chris Baker
DL Myron Pryor

Like to see Pryor and Baker out there on Monday night, but the others are ok to wait on.
